It's nice to see that China gets some things right. Too bad that we don't have something like that here in the US. Remember the whole Enron thing? That destroyed many, many lives. Perhaps these white collar crooks would think twice before abusing their power if this was a possible result. |

I think it's rather harsh to be honest. Yeah he destroyed peoples lives financially but he didn't kill rape or torture anyone. |

Since I am generally against the death penalty I also think that this punishment is too much. Send him to prison for many many years? Yup....hang him? No way.... |

My Hunch - This guy is not being hanged for a scam per se - he is being hanged for doing something which upset "Someone In A High Position". The SIAPH, in turn, is likely a party official.

You've got to look at it from a Chinese point of view.
Just imagine they were to store all the people accused of corruption in prisions. They'd need a medium sized country just to contain them all. Better just to off them and be done with it.

Where in China was he tried? I don't know anywhere where they utilize hanging. The death penalty here is usually performed by a firing squad.
