Don't feel bad. We have twice as much on the ground and temps that have not risen above the zero for nearly 2 weeks. To top the whole thing off, we had a pipe burst yesterday so you can imagine how my day went.

I feel great actually, 2 extra days off work cause as soon as the weather changes, public transport stops working

If that ever happened here the country would grind to a halt. It's -1 here and that's causing enough trouble

How comes every time it snows in the UK it brings the country to a standstill ???

We don't even get that much snow compared to other countries...

There's your reason. Here we have enormous sums of money in the municipal budget set aside for snow removal, road sanding, etc. Plus, areas that don't get a lot of snow have vegetation that's not used to the weight of a snow load, hence the collapsing branches. Sad

It's just been reported on the news that all our gritter lorries are crashing Laughing

Any extreme weather and the country shuts down

It does look pretty stunning however

We�ve had bugger all snow round here and I�m well cheesed off. NI has the most boring weather imaginable. A single flash of lightning is a talking point. All year round it�s overcast, with optional drizzle.

bunch of whiners... two inches of snow in England and the nation grinds to a halt. It's impossible to find a shop which has any bread or milk as everyone rushes around panic buying. Laughing

The only reason I have not left the house today is because of the snow - I hate the stuff. Having arthritis I am too concerned about slipping and landing on my arse to even think of going out. The tempreture on the other hand is really mild. I just remember the -30s near Vladivostok I went through and that nasty cold in New England in Winter 2005. I was walking around in a short sleaved shirt yesterday.

But think of it, a day or so off work because you can't be bothered to get into the car because of the snow. So, no complaints here, well apart from my cat was complaining wanting me to stop it snowing.

I went into town today and 3/4 of the shops were shut because of the weather, schools closed and the supermarkets were stripped of bread, milk and eggs like a swarm of locust had hit the aisles. Personally, apart from getting a chunk of snow in my shoe and having to put up with people driving at 30mph on a dual carriageway and 10mph on a normal road it hasn't affected me at all.

Meanwhile, down here in the forgotten hemisphere, summer is still in full swing. Recently spent 3 weeks in Hobart [Tasmania] where the temp was in the range 290 - 295K the whole time. Absolutely sensational. Where I am now it's considerably warmer, about 308K today. No snow here. Wink
