I got this email in my bait email address. Can anyone tell me what the point of this bait is? And how does it work? Do they think I will contact them and pay for an item I never ordered?? What are they after?

"I don't understand why you are not answering back.I have made the payment and you said you will provide a tracking number after the payment is done.If you don't replay I am assuring you I will report you at eBay.I am sorry for that but you gave me no choice.Waiting for your answer asap. Thank you!"

It's a phishing email, Scampette- they use this format to scare Ebay members.

I'll try to find something that explains it better, but the best thing to do with these is forward to [email protected]
They aren't baitable.

I would demand a link to the auction they allegedly paid for.

There is none.

This is a method by which the scammer is after your password to ebay.
The email doesn’t actually come from ebay it is a falsified email and the link to the purchase will lead to a falsified ebay page asking for your password and if you entered it the page would send the password back to the scammer.
Why !! because then the scammer can steal your account and have your transaction credits to work with.
He will then advertise for sale things he doesn’t have and people will bid and pay because you have spent years getting a super good reputation.
Yes of course once he has your ebay password he can enter the ads and redirect the payments to himself.
Ebay have lately confronted this with.
Any message that comes to you even from another ebay user will appear in the messages in your ebay profile.
If the message doesn’t appear in my messages after you log in to ebay. It is a scam.

Thank you for the replies. Now that makes sense because when I clicked on the link they provided to the auction I "never paid for", it had been removed. Ebay probably found it and took it down. From now on when I get these I will immediately forward them to [email protected].

I never would have fallen for it, but wondered how the scam worked.

Now I know...Thanks!
