Not a good day for me. $97 up minus commission puts me behind ivorgc at the front of the losers. High tech shares had a bit of a rough patch - all except AMD of course - I was over $400 down at one point, but I've got some strong stocks and I'm starting to get my eye in to spot the momentum trades, so I'm looking forward to getting back up the field today.

I was going to write a report last night, but the site locked before I got all the data. I'll see if I can get a round twit tonight.

Freakin AMK handed me my ass. They were in a tailspin, dropped 20 points, so I thought I'd jump on board and make some money on their misery. I even listened to their conference call, which sounded pretty damn bleak. Sure as chit, during the hour it took the game to place my trade the stock turned around and started heading north again. 8% worth. Normally a good thing, but since I sold short, it's an 8% loss. #uckers.

Edit: added the official list, which uses Equity to calculate positions; Equity doesn't show on the portfolio page. It only makes a difference to ivorgc and me, and means I'm in fourth! Sorry Ivor.

At close of market on 2nd Febuary, Bustyn and Callum still slog it out for the lead with just $250 between them, but Callum just can't find those last few dollars.

Hanging back by $2,300 we have the fight for third place. Amberrose has a comfortable position with only one big loser, but only one big winner. Thud419 is starting to learn what stocks to buy, now he just needs to learn when to sell them. Ivorgc is starting to prove that blind faith in one single line of stock can make a profit.

Lounging around smoking cigars and looking supercillious Jeff, bomba, padme, Gold Dalek and fatinmahand picked up some bank interest yesterday so they are actually showing a profit. Fatinmahand keeps asking everybody why everybody else got much more.

Netaddict leads the pack of wannabe leaders and has a healthy portfolio at the moment, but still showing a loss overall of $69. SuperSexyTracy still has the same(?) good portfolio as two days ago, but with $90k still in the bank isn't earning much on it. TSNerd is close behind her, and who wouldn't want to be. Close on his heels LutherBlissett has lost $2k to a single option. Fortunately his previous gains mean he's still only $77 down all told.

Flipsetiel is further down today than yesterday, and with a portfolio more red than green it doesn't look hopeful. HB419's portfolio looks healthy enough, but he's still down on the day. Felchpuppet scores the largest percentage rise of the day, but has a long way to go to match the leaders and CTRIP is still hurting. Loading just breaks the $99k mark, but with $900 losses in the portfolio lets hope some of them go up soon. Wokabo has a single green stock line, that at least stops his portfolio from hitting $1,000 in losses. Jock80 makes the second biggest rise, and is also hurting from CTRIP, coincidence? Maybe that damned stock may just make it.

Clinging onto the back of the pack, Radden and drmikehunt post more losses, which just goes to show that you can't trust a big company to have good stock. So next time someone tells you that you can't go wrong with Microsoft, Google, Dell or eBay, point them here.

Way down the field, still smarting from the penny stocks, chc74 is still holding them, and they are resolutely failing to move in either direction. Microsoft, Google and 3M, on the other hand did move - downwards.

Posting the largest loss by far on the day, 3strikes_out trails a massive $19,268.25 behind the field. I don't understand options, and I don't think he does either. Wink

Thanks, Thud. My problem is I make one bad trade for every good one, but I should open tomorrow over 100,000.. hopefully...

I won't. Google dropped $4/share in after-hours trading. I thought it was a good buy at 490. I don't get it.. Great announcements, great numbers, and the stock tanks. Wink

I don't know what's propping up F. They are doing TERRIBLE, and things are only looking down.

I'm looking at ATI tomorrow.. among others.

However, the reason that I went with Microsoft is because of the Vista launch. It boosted their stock up the day it sold and the day after. However, i'm seeing the stock plunge so I dunno what to do now.

I'll keep with my Mr. Gates and see if he pulls through for me, if not - I can always sell, or sell short if they ever go positive again.

Actually, I think I'll be well situated on Monday. I think I've found a few winners for next week. Though I'll drop another $200 initially.. I could gain a grand tomorrow.

yeah i'm going to have to get my act together and stop screwing around with these big named companies. I'm in 19th place now and I don't want to be at the end of the comp by the start of next week (but I have to accept it) so I'm going to have to think up something big.

@#$%, I screwed up a limit buy, and a stock opened at a crazy price, which, of course, I bought at, because I screwed up the buy, costing me 4,800 bucks.
