My router just died, and now my wife and I have to fight for the internet connection. Anyone have suggestions what router I should get now?

in the UK, belkin do a lifetime warranty.

check your local staples out for a customer returns, as they are the ones AOL
customers have loads of trouble setting up and take them back.

big discounts to be had if you are lucky.

I made a huge mistake buying a D-Link as my first WIFI router. Very confusing and counter-intuitive. Eventually replaced it with a Linksys, and not only was setup intuitive and there's a huge manual, but the signal strength is greatly improved. FWIW.

Do what I did recently. Ring your ISP's customer support and ask which router they are most comfortable supporting. (It was a Netgear).

I replaced my router recently and on Friday I start getting this red LED at the DSL connection. After noticing lots of performance issues I could not find any reference to the red LED. I ended up phoning support and they were telling me it's the PPPoE settings.

After spending ages with this guy trying to reset and reconfigure it, it turned out out that it was someone elses broadband connection and my laptop found it by rotating through all the available wireless connections.

The first thing I done when I got the settings back was to enable the security on my own connection. I had no idea I been using the neighbours broadband for the entire weekend! Shocked

I've had Dlink Thumbs down and when it crapped out after about 2 months, I replaced it with a Westell. I work for a large Telecom provider in the Southeast (bet you can't guess who Laughing ) and they issue Westell with their DSL. I've had it about 1 year with no problems.

My Linksys ran for 7 years. I thought about getting another but for a third the price the Netgear was my choice. If you don't WIFI, turn the radio off.

Ah, I'm not complaining about my old router, it lasted us a good five years, and it was a Netgear.

Sounds like Belkin is the way to go? Do they have a pretty good onboard firewall on their products?
