atlast,
im near the date were i can leave the UK for good.
ive secured employment across the pond and had clearance for my work visa.im just waiting for my new company to send me my plane ticket and
should be out of here end of feb.
long time coming as the UK is slowly grinding to a halt(dont wish this to become a polictical thread!!!)

a new life for me and my family in pastures new.complete lifestyle changes for us all and i really do hope its for the best.
better hunting for one thing ive found out.better house prices,fuel and various
other tempting opportunties.

its a sad state of affairs now within the UK and i never actually thought i would leave my place of birth,but ive made the decision and will start
to pack my bags.

got 4 weeks to go and then the big silver bird.

i hope it does.i think there is more ex pats now than ever before
and not so many ex pats returning back either.

Hey, remmy, good luck with the move. I know how you feel about the greener grass, I am actually doing the same thing in about a month (although I'll still be under the same Federal/National government).

Oh, and whatever you do, don't move to Nebraska. You'll be bored out of your wits, and the scenery is not all that great. In fact, an SR-22 pilot was telling me once he had seen all of Nebraska, west to east, in seven minutes and that was enough for him.

As far as United, I'm sure there's some satellite company that carries it... we even have a "BBC America" channel. If that doesn't work, there's always XM and the 'Net.

Just checked the gas prices for my home town, where gas prices are much higher than much the rest of the country, and we're down to $2.159.
Here's a full national list, with my hometown, on the left, in orange, and most of the country in green and yellow. Yes, the grass is definitely greener (in fact, that's one part of why I'm about to make my move). Enjoy your dreaming of good gas prices until you come across the pond.

I left The UK over 17 years ago but go visit my mum about once a year and every time i go back i realise that i do miss it. Nowhere in the world does a pub smell the same as a british pub

Bon voyage remmy. We sold up and migrated to Oz (and for exactly the same reasons) and it was the BEST decision of our lives. I don't miss the UK at all and really don't care if I never set foot there again. It might seem intimidating at the moment (especially when all your friends are saying "ohhhh, you are so BRAVE" WTF?) but you will quickly realise that you have made the best decision of your life too. Enjoy.
