Hey, c'mon now, you can't properly tell from a picture at that angle what she actually looks like...

Not defending her as a person or anything. It just gets under my skin a bit when a person's physical appearance is brought into question - it's not like it's something they can do much about.

My only beef is that it seems the judge was a bit reluctant to actually give her prison time? At least that's the way the article reads....

Personally, I think she's getting off lightly....

Impossible to tell much from that photo. She's got bangs. That's about all you can see.

"Attractiveness" does tend to involve more than looks for most people, though. Having the character flaw of being a money-grubbing scammer who is looking to use someone's feelings for personal gain is usually is a bit of a turn-off for most of us.

Your "attractive" isn't always someone else's "attractive". I know several very (to me, at least) attractive men who are married to women who actually aren't professional models, amazingly enough. Even some active, trim, sporty ones who are quite happily married to women who definitely aren't size twos and are not spectacularly, dazzlingly gorgeous to the point that men's tongues hang out when they walk down the street. And vice versa.

For that matter, I don't see any evidence that the gents she scammed were particularly attractive (in any sense of the word) specimens. Could be setting their sights exclusively on professional volleyball players who volunteer with orphans on weekends and got nominated for the Nobel Prize is also slightly unrealistic...

What's the judge doing accepting the argument of a "personality disorder" as a mitigating circumstance? Seems to me that all serial criminals have a personality disorder. Honest, judge, I just couldn't help myself from scamming 80 people � my personality demands a lavish lifestyle. Confused

I guess the article is a little short on facts, but I can't believe she got only 2 years!

I have only once seen a news report of an event that I knew something about that didn't have glaring factual errors - and that one wasn't on the BBC.

It would be impossible to be accurate about any personality disorder that she might suffer in a piece of that length, and the editor would excise it if the reporter tried. In fact doing so may be a breach of her privacy.

Seriously, I'd agree with you. It's as if saying personality disorder makes it right and okay somehow.

Unfortunately Judges in the UK are strongly discouraged from giving prison time these days as the prison population is currently at an all-time high with less than 300 places left nationwide.

IMHO I would just build more prisons. *go figure*

Anyway, it's quite sad that these things happen..
But indeed they do.
