I'd suggest using Spybot S+D, that's what I use on my Windoze partition, if that doesn't work, I'd suggest a Mac Smile

Quick update.
Baddies lots. Jeff nil. They hatch, I dispatch. I need Sigourney Weaver.
I taped up all orifices (on the computer) and poured bleach in through the cd rom. The little bastards were ready and had wetsuits and scuba. Tomorrow, no more nice guy, insertion of cattle prod through side access.
In reality Confused

I'm going to go back through system restore deleting restore points if unsuccessful.Then run spybot multiple times whilst in safe mode.
If all else fails I'll have to get off the wife's computer and go back to my own, he said whistling innocently.

http://www.ubcd4win.com/ Build yourself a CD of this software. You can basically boot your machine without the use of your hard drive, allowing you to run scans and delete files. The badware is helpless because it isn't running in memory and spyware is MUCH easier to get rid of. I have yet to lose a fight to spyware on a customer machine thanks to the CD.

Thank you everyone for all the help. I can promise you that I have read and examined all the posts. Sorry, had to pause there to remove a casino pop up! Time has not been on my side over the last day with other demands fire wise. My neighbour came over and took over. She left defeated with her reputation in tatters.(COMPUTER WISE!!) We have decided on a tag team approach in an effort to wear it out! Hijack this and regedit found no probs and I installed Xosftspy SE. It found a load of stuff, deleted it but the prob remains. I get a page script error now all the time saying

My time is somewhat limited for the next 48 hours but a bootable cd seems to be favourite when I get back. Can't restore to an earlier time via sysrestore.
This is without doubt the most aggravating load of crap I've ever had to battle. I am running spybot in a non-stop mode. One piece of advice was to use the lop.com uninstall facility. Another post asks whether you could trust an uninstall from the assholes who installed it in the first place? Fair comment. What about 3 mins on high for the hddisc in the microwave Evil or Very Mad

Damn, is a reformat in your future? I've had to do it before, so if you need to do it, it's OK, but a pain in the butt. Lop should be in front of a Grand Jury! Vermin! Lop should be raked over the coals! I can never, ever get system restore to work either. It just says it cannot restore to an earlier time, and it is not turned off.

You might have a rootkit. It happens, esp if you downloaded cracked software, as my daughter did Crying or Very sad

hijackthis may not see the process thats running if its hidden, as a rootkit does, and hides itself from the file registry (also as a rootkit does).

This proggy saved the day for me. www.f-secure.com/blacklight/

BTW I had to run this no less than 4 times to get rid of the rootkit. You'll have to use it in conjunction with hijackthis.

@irb. Honestly, I ask you, do I look as though I would be the sort of honest upright law abiding citizen who would download cracked software???? As I've downloaded the program though I may as well try it Wink

Have you fixed your problem, if not, I may be able to help
before you format, it seems you had a lot of good information.

Our computer at work got hit by the jokers, it took two days to
clean it manually, I tried every software out their, nothing help,
browser hijack, tool bar, delete one thing it created another,
done all in safe mode.

Just a thought I might could help.

Thanks Crossfire. Downloaded and installed. I run sunbelt kerio firewall anyway. Can't get the program to work even after re installing 3 times. Told me I needed an update. Did that but it won't let me install the update and just says "Sorry old chap, we need to close, so sorry" Evil or Very Mad

Haven't had a lot of time but might uninstall and re install the whole thing. I assume the free version works?

I have used ewido where others have failed. Most impressed I might even get around to buying a license oneday. The unregistered versions works fine.

I recently had a nasty case of a downloader virus that, like Jeff's managed to reinstall itself every time I cleaned it.

I think someone on her pointed me at Ewido, which was the only one of all the solutions I tried to actually work.

While its on my mind, I think I'll run it. See ya later.

I thought I would post a final note on lop.com. IT'S GONE.
Thank you to everyone who contributed. For your information this is what I found and or did in case anyone else gets it. I do not endorse any particular product, neither do I criticize it. These results were with my computer with my configuration against lop.com
Lavasoft adaware. I had it already and used it regularly. Ineffective.
Spybot S+D I used to use it. Re installed it. Ineffective.
Bazooka. Way over my head as a numpty. My eyes glazed over.
Restore points option didn't work. Would not restore.
TMP files were deleted with sure delete every few minutes. No help.
Spybot in safe mode. Didn't get to it.
Re format. Last resort but would have happened.
Boot CD. Beyond me again. See above "Numpty"
Root kit. Tried. Found nothing.
Ewido is AVG 7.5 Already use it. No detection. I have found AVG to be good but on occasion have scanned a download b4 opening, received the all clear, opened it and yep. Virus found. Not often though. I like AVG.
xsoftspy SE found stuff. Didn't cure it.
Panic ware ad blocker. Good but annoying. Masked the problem for 90% but no cure.
Sunbelt Counter spy. I was using sunbelt kerio firewall anyway.
After installing and using counterspy it found some strange files. I quarantined them. Problem gone.
Conclusion. None.
Multiple uses of spybot/ delete TMP/ Counter spy/ regular AVG scans plus cleansing of BHO's via Hijack this Probably overwhelmed lop.
I do know that they are off my Christmas card list.
PS. All I have on my computer now is 79.95Gb of anti virus programs and eater Laughing
