Managed to keep a lad on the phone for just under an hour earlier, while still managing to eat my dinner and watch TV...marvellous.

call cost: 60p per minute to him, 58 minutes...scammer down �34.80

just curious-where's the figure of 60p/min come from? you could at least double the cost with a DMClub number. Diverts to any phone, within the UK. Plus it can't be Skype'd !!.

My 070 number is 50p/min + NiTel international charge 10p/min minimum.

If he's calling from a mobile or he's on a more obscure Nigerian network it could be double what I have estimated. Working on a 'worst case' basis, he'll still be bankrupt by February Smile

Apparently he's going to talk to me tonight...something about demurrage charges Smile

At one stage, I put the phone on the sofa, made a cup of coffee, came back and he was still blethering on about Western Union, fastest way to send money, security company, etc etc.

I get the impression that he's either a very new lad who has inherited a very old school scammer starter pack...or he's a very old lad who has been doing it so long he's on autopilot.

Try this one out. When you get bored ask the lad for his number, say you'll call him back. Get the fives and the nines mixed up - he says five, you repeat nine etc etc. Had one on for a good half an hour one time. Plus they get very very narky. Its great.

It would be interesting to know exactl how much it's costing this lad, I'm pretty sure my estimate is low.

Does anyone know how much it would be from a Nigerian mobile to a 50p/min 070 number?

I don't know how things work in Nigeria, but tell him to send you a scan of his phone bill. Or have him quote them to you over the phone.
