My bait of the arrogant (http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=96193&highlight=valentine just took a new turn.

We were hung up on the question of the Memoranda of Agreement for the work Malcolm Reynolds did supplying weapons and ammunition for the late General Guei. Finally the Lad referred me to a lawyer.

Here's the first message from the lawyer:

Here's the one I received today:

I believe an understanding of such matters at the outset is conducive to a harmonious, professional relationship, consequently and courage. You have retained us for a specific purpose we shall guard the boy with all manners.
With these statements for our services, as well as for out-of-pocket expenses, for example, long distance telephone charges, copying charges, filing fees ,postage, facsimile charges, court costs, travel expense or the like, provision for such shall be bear by you until we conclude our work and the fund is finally move from the security company and transfer to you.
Prior to our beginning you’re work on the preparation of the MOA and register it in the Court for reference purpose you will be subject to commitment and Retains fee payment of sum $3,500:00 ( THREE THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED UNITED STATES DOLLAR)for the Retainer fee of the legal charges. Please be assured that I will always diligently and faithfully pursue your legal objectives to the best of our ability...
Kindly forward to our accounting officer the amount as information stated beneath:
If you have any questions regarding our engagement and your understanding of the procedures for payment of services rendered and expenses incurred, please call us as soon as possible. We appreciate the opportunity to provide legal services to you AND Little General Guei and his family look forward to continuing our relationship.

I'm certain they're by different guys. The second is close to perfect...

Compared to the messages from the Lad himself, it's a major improvement; likewise with the first Lad Lawyer message.

It'll be interesting to see if the quality holds.

I have often wondered just how many lads I had going in one bait where they were only pretending to be one or two characters. The differences in writing styles are a dead giveaway. I would presume that the oga is the one with the better English.

Is it possible that an oga might be a "solo" operation? I ask this as that I had one lad who was exceptional in his English all the way thru the bait.

You defenetly have two mugus on the bait. The style as you mentioned is a give away. Dont be surprised if he writes from a different addy

So an oga always has good english and if the scammer does not have good english he is not an oga. I must note this for the future.

It could be a boilerplate contact they modified.

Do you know what an oga is?

I had an Oga logged as a higher-ranking scammer, with the ordinary mugus as the foot soldiers.

The sudden improvement of the English implied (to me) that the original Lad might have brought in help.

If I used the term Oga loosely, and offended against the Baiter's Lexicon, consider me abashed. Wink

An oga is only someone other people call the boss. He doesn't necessarily have any better command of language than the others. Usually some more experience in scamming and access to information the others don't. A good Oga with a large gang doesn't usually get involved with the maga. An oga with only a couple of partners will get involved but will try to stay separate to maintain his authority. Language ability doesn't mean anything. It is his ability to scam that is prized. Many lads fake their language skills to appear dumber to the maga and make scamming them easier.

Your scammer could have brought in help but I doubt an oga would deal directly with you.

I just think if we are going to use terms they should be used correctly and consistently so as not to confuse noobs.

What really bugs me at the moment is that I may have painted myself into a corner on the bait in question...

Use the Lads as a drop-cloth and walk your way back to the open door. If you feel comfortable that you're now higher up the food chain, then you can lie your way out by simply saying, "I never told you that." "You misunderstood my previous communication." etc. etc.

If the Legal Services Agreement was the last communication then you are at the invoice stage. You cannot make payment of the retainer fees without an invoice.
Once the invoice arrives, tell the Lad that you just noticed the "long distance calls and fax charges" clause. That is definitely not going to happen since you are afraid that the Lad will abuse this clause and call you for stupid stuff every 3 hours...(like all of this isn't stupid stuff Laughing

)
You want that clause adjusted to a maximum of 3 minutes of long distance calls per week. Nit pick the snot out of him.

The big picture claiming of the funds will get bogged down for weeks while you re-negotiate legal agreements.
