my friends and family know. my dad never really got why i did it until he heard an interview with shiver on the radio.

My youngest sister knows, and she thinks it's hysterical! Laughing

A couple of work colleagues know. I once used a lad ID card to make up a false ID for one of them, and he laughed so much I finally explained to a few people aobut it - they all think it's great. I don't bait from work tho. HMG would not be pleased!

Kinda creeps out my wife. The "kids" ( 25 & 26) think it's hilarious. The dogs don't care either way.

My partner is vaguely aware of it, thinks it's 'dangerous' (like I'm going to use my real name and address!) but I guess she thinks it's better than sitting at the computer trawling porn sites and looking for loose women (if only she knew!!!).

She thinks I should use my time and abilities for something more productive and I guess in a way she's right - as women always bloody well are - but I find it relaxing and fun.

She's not a native English speaker so doesn't really appreciate some of my 'alter egos' such as Uyaradum Koksuka, Will Getchercourt, Tarti Oldslappa, and Shaikh Madiq.

My son, aged 12, is a little too young, I feel, to be exposed to the baiting scenarios on 419 eater, but he understands about the different types of scam and I think that's a healthy start in life.

My wife and daughter know about my activities, I share some of the more interesting baits with them from time to time but for the most part the whole concept goes over my wife's head. My 21 year-old daughter is totally freaked out by the whole thing, she is convinced I'm doing something very dangerous. My wife is also nervous about it despite my constant reassurances that no lads will be knocking on my door. On the other hand, she loves to tell her friends about it. Go figure.

I have told a few of my friends about my activities, they all think it's hilarious. I mentioned it to my accountant over lunch yesterday, he said "Oh, so that's what you do instead of playing golf!" Yup. I'd rather slap a lad than chase a little white ball. Very Happy

The family thinks its 'weird' and some of the friends think its cool. I'm working on recruiting them to the cause... Wink

My 11 year old saw me emailing "R@ph3@l" and asked who it was, then went and told his mother that I was emailing someone named "R@ph3@l".

I explained it as well as I could to him. Now he wants to know who I am emailing to all the time.

My wife just gives me that I don't understand most of what you do look. Shocked

I am used to being anonymous (occupational hazard), so baiting anonymously was not a big transition for me. Cool

My son (11yo...not Radden) knows and enjoys reading the baits I have going. Wifey-poo could care less. I am trying to recruit my brother and sister. They both like reading Shivers baits. My brother told me "if only you put this much effort in school....." I got involved because Radden just wouldn't leave me alone till I tried it. Now I can't stop..... Very Happy

All my family knows what I do here. The problem is most of them are too thick to fully comprehend what's involved. When I speak of such things the glazed eyes and dumbfound look on their faces let's me know that they really don't get it, and they're not interested in getting it either! If they only knew the sacrifices I make to make the internet a safer place for everyone else. Wink

My wife on the other hand, she's a different story. She's set her foot down and laid out some boundaries. No more than $30 per month in phone charges, and no more than 2 hours per day doing the baiting and associated stuff. Reasonable enough I reckon.

By the by, if you haven't done any fake check baits yet, give it a try. One of the easiest ways to obtain trophies there is. And it hits the lads in the pocket book, just a bit. PM me if you need any pointers.

My family all know I bait and usually come up with some pretty good scenarios to try out, most of my friends know as well but don't seem to get why cause they reckon anyone who falls for a 419 deserves to be scammed Evil or Very Mad

of course they would change their minds if it happened to their granny

One of my friends does, but my family doesn't. My dad would probably think it's hilarious but my mom has some uninformed views about internet security... I feel that the death threats and all wouldn't work out for her.

Hubby knows, daughter is too young to understand (although she occasionally talks to the pets by shouting in the phone), most of my friends know, parents, brother...... basically everyone I care to explain this hobby to. I found out it takes quite a bit of time and energy to explain what exactly baiting IS, so normally I don't bother with co-workers or people I don't know that well.

My family and friends know, but none of them really understand it so I don't talk with them much about it any more. I will occasionally try to share some particularly humorous thing that I have run across here or from a mugu, and the response is usually "????" so I don't much try any more.

I tell my wife about my scambaiting activities - although I probably dress it up a bit - or down a bit, depending on how you look at it.

I've been trying to 'sell' anti scam software ideas to my father's software company for ages. He never pays any attention.
