My lad tells me that Western Union are not working internationally in South Africa anymore becasue of scamming! Is he bull$hitting me? 
I'd think WU Nigeria would be the first to suspend their business in Africa! |

As far as I'm aware, this is true. They only seem to use MG there. I'm sure someone who is far more knowledgeable will be along and confirm this (or otherwise) |

Yes...it is correct but it is not because of scamming.
The WU country franchise was licensed to a small South African bank.
That bank merged with 3 other banks and created ABSA.
The merger terms included that the WU franchise be dropped as part of the deal. |

saw several WU outlets when in Cape Town and other parts of SA in November
