I'm bored at work and don't have many lads on the go at the moment due to them all visiting their mothers over Christmas etc (obviously, nothing to do with Nigerian internet cafes closing over Xmas/New Year!!) so I decided to browse through some old guestbooks on Google.
I was amazed at how popular our hobby has become lately - almost every guestbook has a posting from a Gmail account saying something along the lines of "Excellent site, my wealthy company would like to make a donation" etc. I have 2 questions:
1) Does anyone here still sign guestbooks or do you get all the lads you need from this site?
2) Do you think the lads will one day cotton on that messages like the one above are from baiters? Some of the messages, like the one above, are hardly subtle. Or are there enough stupid lads out there to keep us entertained for years to come? |

I would say don't seed the guestbooks. In my opinion, it is better to just pick them off of this site. |

1) I don't seed guestbooks anymore.
2) Lads don't really read those guestbooks, neither do they send their initial scam explicitly to you. You could sign up with "Hey, I'm a baiter and I would like to screw you over as much as possible" and still get enough 419s to plaster your doorway with. |

Seeding guestbooks with Im so rich, someone contact me! is a modality from the dark ages in scambaiting terms. Since we have so many other resources for new lads now (the surplus letters forum is a good start) its mostly unnecessary now. And to answer your second question, the lads harvest guestbooks with programs that simply lift every email address on the page, so the baiters comment will not be read by the lad anyway. |

When Lads are looking for addresses that is exactly what they're looking for ....addresses! ..... no time to think "is this a good entry in the guestbook" |

Like the others I stopped seeding guestbooks a long time ago when I noticed that more and more site owners were disabling their books because of abuse by both lads and baiters.
Surplus is a better answer and not at all intrusive on those who just want feedback from readers of their sites. |

I didn't realise that was how they got the e-mail addresses. To give the b@stards credit, that's fairly clever!

I like this idea! I'm imagining a wall papered with a selection of introduction e-mails! I have to find some work to do, the boredom has obviously gone too far when you start picturing things like that!! |

Actually a bar papered with prints of such mails wouldn't be bad. We could serve Nigerian beer and food specialities. There could even be a PC with internet connection in some corner and a phone for prank calls. And SF could be barmaid. Anyone up for a stylish baiter's pub? |

I don't seed guestbooks anymore either. There are other places to get a bite, including our own surplus letters forum, as has already been metioned.
These guys don't give a monkeys where they find their potential victims' email addresses. Hardly a day goes by now when I don't receive scam emails to all the 419eater.com admin email addresses |

On the subject of the popularity of baiting, I notice that that on any guestbook, it is literally peppered with silly names, so obviously from baiters.
I an Email from a mugu recently with about 12 Email addresses in the CC. I would have thought that at least half of them were baiters addys. |

I still get a steady stream of lads (5-10 a day) through the catcher account I set up around the time I joined. The addy harvested from the guest books I seeded, must still be doing the rounds.
Funny thing is, I have loads of other Email accounts that only ever seem to get spammed, no lads! |

I started yesterday by seeding and am now juggling 6, which seems respectable, however I will make sure to take from surplus from now on as it seems easier |

There's a similar thread over in the Hints section. From what I've read in the guestbooks, just about every baiter and his little sister has posted their comments.
If the question is do I still do it? The answer is no. But when I was a noob, it was fun responding to 60 fresh lads with "Wow, I'm very excited about this, tell me more." I was making up for a lack of quality with massive quantity. |

When I was a newb, I signed a couple to get a few lads, and I got a few long running baits out of it. But now I mainly rely on whats on offer from the shuttle or this forum, and occasionally urgentmessage.org
It just seems rathr pointless now, it abuses the persons site and the lads dry up after a few weeks and just send spam. |

I have just started recently and after seeding just a few guestbooks have received 9 approaches within 3 days - comments noted re using the surplus letters but I have noticed a few comments regarding 'quality v quantity' - does this mean I should concentrate on just a few of the more interesting approaches rather than just replying to them all or are there certain ones I should be targeting in particular ?? |

I moderate the guestbook of a sports club in my city.
I doubt very much that an obvious baiter seeding would last more than 12 hours there. A lad "OOOOOO KEEP OFF I DONE LAND HERE!" even less. |

It's been a while since I seeded guestbooks, but I still do it occasionally.
I won't post a "I'm a rich businessman looking for overseas investment opportunities" type of message, but I will try to indicate that I actually looked at the site.
I have noted how the same people keep signing the same guestbooks with the same gmail addresses.....it's as predictable as the dead relative letters that will come in within 48 hours of someone who died on the Sagbama Expressway. |

No it's ok, you'd just have to pay for your beers in advance.

I just take my pick from the cornucopia of eager lads in our Surplus Letters sub-forum. I can then choose which type of bait - straight 419, inheritance, lottery, etc etc. With a resource like that I don't think it's really necessary to seed Guestbooks at all. |

They should harvest the Schalke 04 guestbook: instant victims, thousands of very stupid, greedy, unemployed victims.
Harvesting the Bayern Munich guestbook wouldn't work. Those fans can't read or write. |

I signed a ton of guestbooks when I first started scambaiting and have not had the need to do it ever again. I still get more and more scam emails everyday in that catcher account. |
