I buried my mom yesterday.

10 days ago, she was riding her bike, was hit by a van, fell on the back of her head, went into a coma and died 4 days later.

All what's left of her now are some ashes and a bunch of memories.

I don't know why I am sharing this with all of you who are reading this, I guess I suppose that this thread will go down the list very soon, but maybe it will last a bit and keep her memory for some time on the internet.

I'm so sorry for your loss and this tragedy. My dad died last year in somewhat similar circumstances so I absolutely understand what you are going through. I can't offer any real comfort via a keyboard but I can reassure you that your mom will be with you always, often at unexpected moments. I feel the presence of my dad every day through random thoughts, memories, music, jokes, even smells. Your mom may not be there in the flesh any longer but I promise you she's still there in a million tiny ways. My only other words of reassurance is that the pain and loss you are feeling now will ease with time. It won't seem like that now but I promise you it will. Meanwhile, don't hide your feelings and if you want to yell, cry, rant at the injustice of it all then go ahead and do so - it's very important to grieve and there's no shame in venting your feelings. In the nearly a year that I have been here I have grown to feel that all you guys are part of my extended family. I share your grief as if it was my own and I think that telling us about it helps us understand each other better.

I wish you and your family a long life and may you live to 120 (a Jewish saying) plus 1 day (so you shouldn't die suddenly)

I haven't thought about my own mom and dad for a while but I will raise a glass to them and your mom tonight.

I am so sorry my friend. There are no words that help, but time lessens the pain but slowly. Keep the memory and she lives on.

You have my sympathy too, but at least your Mum did not linger on for many years in a vegetative state or on life support, which sadly is often the case. She probably didn't even know what had happened. We nursed my parents through the nightmare of Alzheimers and Parkinsons for a total of 10 years, my mum dying a few weeks ago, which was a release for all concerned.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It's hard enough to deal with the loss of a parent, but nobody should have to do so in such a tragic and sudden way.

Wokabo, I'm so sorry for your loss. What an awful thing to happen. I lost my father suddenly to heart attack and my mother to a long lingering cancer - both situations are difficult in their own way.

But as others have said, time does heal, and all I can say is that I know you'll keep her memories close to you, and regardless of spiritual belief, she will still be near you through your memory and keepsakes.

Remember the fun times, I always smile when I think of my dad, his jokes etc, but it hurts when you you think "I'll call him for something or other" and then you remember that you can't. On the whole, I remember him with happiness.

I'm deeply moved and sorry to hear of your loss. While I was reading this my mum called and told me to go to her house by the beach, bring the kids and bikes. I will be sure to pack the helmets and will think about your mum.
