I received an email saying they are looking for an accountant to handle their monies in this COuntry "BIG WARNING FLAG THERE" How ever thewy say that they will get the people who owe them Money to send it to me. HAH HAH!!. Whats up with these people? Embarassed

In any case, even from the little that you wrote, it sounds like a fake job mule scam, are they asking you to accept payments, keep 10% and send 90% back to them, if so, that's exactly what it is.

It's a fake check scam. They pretend to offer you a job "processing payments", you cash their fake checks, send them their share, and you're left holding the bag when the bank finds it was forged. You owe the money back. You can end up being criminally charged, as well.

It doesn't matter who the person is who offers you this job. They're never legit. Even if it were a real company, it would be money laundering charges for the both of you.

@ Rcelis, we need to see the actual email that you received to confirm things, because scmmers often give the details of real companies in their scams, so you would expect an email to be from an email address matching their website domain name, or did theu mail you from Yahoo, Hotmail etc?

The phone number you gave is a UK landline from BT:

Which leads me to believe it might be a real company that the scammer is abusing. Scammer never use traceable phone numbers. Please post the email and include the full email headers so we can see which country it was sent from.

Thanks for responding to my Job posting on Craigslist,I am the
Personel manager/Recruitter,Appointed by a special Ad-Hoc committee
that was
put together to rescue Turnell & Gidon Group international sales.
T & G group is renowned for English traditional printed chintzes all
produced from Achive materials.We are the only company that still edits
Hand-block designs,a process that requires seven years of
apprentiship,involving often
hundreds of different blocks.However it produces a look that cannot be
satisfactorily copied by any other printing method.Also here in the
Uk,we
have covered alot of grounds both in the fabrication of good and modern
fabrics for everyday urban fashion.Most exports has been to the more
European neighbors,But overtime there has been an increase in demand in

united states.

The increase in demand did also brought about the problem with
payments,The website does not suit the American doller transactions.A
temporary
accounts officer seems to be the best solution to this problem,this
solution
will only last till our website and other credit options/facilities are
put
into place .Some of our customers there has offered to pay us with
united
states money orders and checks.Here in the UK its a problem to cash
such
checks and money orders.To cash them we lost 19% of the payment to make
the
transaction/coversions values.
In view of the above,we will be happy to have you as our
representative
in the united states who will be handling the payment aspect,by
recieving
such payments on our behalf from ourAmerican buyers .

Your job discription;
Simple,You will be responsible for making the transfers to us here in
the UK
or sometimes as the case maybe,to our international make-shift

would require you to take the checks/money orders to your bank,have it
cashed and tranfer the funds asap through Western Union International
Money
Transfer or
Moneygram.

For your labor;
10% of the total payment is your wage/commission.The rest is transfered

Yes, it's a fake cheque scam where you are the mule, you accept cheques from their clients/customers, cash them and keep 10% as your commission and send the 90% back to the scammers, all the cheques you receive are not from clients/customers, they are fake cheqques sent by the scammers, and as Mrs Bean pointed out above, you will be the one arrested for passing fake cheques and money laundering.

It appears they are using a legit company name to give legitimacy to their scams. The legit company will know nothing about this.

Real company, but I'll bet my lunch money the headers trace back to somewhere else. The wording was pretty ladlike in the email as well.

Hey Tahnks as I have already burned one group from Canada who sent me a fake Money Order From some one in Tennessee. I have a friend who is with the Bureau and he helped me with that one. It seems that you can get in a lot of trouble for writing false checks and using some ones account. Of course that individual claims to not know a thing. Very Happy

Not that the scammer mails you from a free Hotmail.com address, if they were from the legit company, they would mail from [email protected]

The scammer has 2 adverts on Craiglist, here they are:

Go to each advert and at the top of each page you can flag them as "prohibited", if a few do it Craiglist will delete their ads

if you google the phrase "You are to receive payments which will be sent to you by fedex and usps", you'll find all sorts of emails which are remarkably similar to the one you received (a few posts up by now). this is an easy trick which can be quite useful as the scammers tend to recycle their letters, just filling in different content (in this case related to the company they are impersonating*) to fit the particular scam.

*if a company can be impersonated, since it's not a person and all....

If you're interested, this is an email I received from the same address. This person is definitely trying to do some kind of check scam. Of course, I just responded to her with elaborate conditions of treatment she will never meet b/c, of course, I know she's trying to scam me...
