Gday all. New here. Just stumbled across the Stev Eve scam - http://www.419eater.com/html/stev_ebe.htm - today, and I've been reading this site for hours. It's fascinating! I know it doesn't really compare, but I thought I'd share my experience from a few months back. It really was lots of fun!

lawyer to Mr.S.G Burton,a foreigner who used to work with Shell
International Republic of Togo, Hereinafter shall be referred to as my client.

As it may interest you to know, Your contact was given to me by
divine inspiration at the office of the Chamber and Tourism in Lome-Togo as
I was going through some directories. I decided to contact you in order
to champion such a business magnitude without any problem.

On the 21st of April 2001,my client, his wife and their two children
were involved in a car accident along Kara-Sokode expressway while
arriving from a Holiday to Lome. All occupants of the vehicle
unfortunately lost their lives.
I am contacting you to assist in transfering the fund valued at
US$10.5m,(Ten million and five hundred thousand United States Dollars),left
behind by my client before it gets confiscated or declared
unserviceable by the Security Finance Firm where this huge amount were deposited.
The said Security Finance Company has issued me a notice to provide the
next of kin or have his account confiscated within the next twenty one
official working days.

Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 2
years now,I seek your consent to present as the next of kin to the
deceased since you have the same last names, so that the proceeds of this
account can be paid to you.

Therefore,I will not fail to inform you that this transaction is 100%
risk free. On smooth conclusion of this transaction, you will be
entitled to 30% of the total sum as gratification, while 5% will be set aside

Subject: Be assured................Mr. Steve
Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 01:37:43 -0700 (PDT)

Dear Steve,

I have to first of all thank you for the quick
response.I am not surprised that you will feel
sceptical with this development. I too, with conscience
will feel the same way when a total stranger writes to
me on such confidential matters through the internet. I
will be bound to ask a few questions and need
clarifications.

Be rest assured that this is not a sort of joke or what
you may think it to be,but a pure business transaction
necessitated by circumstance.

The introduction of internet and the advancement in
communication technology has brought the global world
into a unit and most unscrupolous men have used the
opportunity to undo their fellow humanbeings. But this
will not be our portion in the name of Jesus Christ.

This proposal is for our mutual benefit and I neither
meant any harm nor do I mean to deceive a fellow
humanbeing. My proposal is genuine and very legal. This
business/transaction will be handled legitimately
conforming to all acceptable international standrds. I
cannot risk your personality or put you into trouble. I
am a devouted christian and also a family man and I
place a lot of interest in the family at large and God.

At my age, education and professional status, I cannot
delve into a venture that is detrimental and
disgraceful to my family and to humanity at large. If I
do it, I am risking my years of long service and
consequent jail.

For your information, there is no risk attached
whatsoever. You are protected and secured and any
information you give concerning my late client Mr.Sctt
G. Burton would be treated with confidence. There is
no hanky panky on this and the informations will be
used for the sole purpose of transferring the money.

Steve, that you bear Burton as the last name is enough
for me to process the claim on your behalf for our
mutual benefit.Of a truth I have really searched for
the real relative of Mr.Scott Gary Burton and was
unable to locate them. Our relationship when he was
alive did not extend to go over to his country
America.Although we planned going to USA before his
sudden demise and owing to this fact I do not know his
real relatives and how I can locate them.

I have carefully planned the execution and had gotten
all papers like his death certificate and now
processing to get his probate certificate.Every nods
needed for the successful transfer has been taken
careof. I only needed the cooperation and assistance of
a willing foreign partner that bears the same surname
with my client to actualise the dream.Thank God I have
found you.I will advise you to consider it and accept
to help.

In co-operation, I will send to you a specimen of
application which you will copy, fill and fax to the
Security Finance Company. With this application, all
necessary documents will be procured to flag up the
transfer, the paying firm will reach you to transfer the
money. This is all that needs to be done.

You must understand that it is a DEAL and a deal of
this nature has to be treated with caution and must be
kept confidential. I hope you will adhere to this and
let it be a business solely for you and me as your
partner till the money comes over.

The whole tranaction would not take long and the fund
comfirmed in your designated account overseas. But be
fully assured that you are protected and very safe. I
will be laiasing with you on what to do and how we
could make this business work and succeed.

As an Executive and well known attorney here, I know
the terrain very well and can confidently tread on
itwithout blemishes. Trust me.

Feel free to contact and discuss with me. My telephone
number is (228) 9077 353. I will also be happy to have
your call immediately on receipt of this mail.

Thanks and God bless.

Your Friend and Brother

Mr.Mawoule S.Amen.

Subject: Details of the project....Mr. Steve
Date: Tue, 07 Oct 2003 11:31:03 -0700 (PDT)

Dear friend Steve,

Thank you for your prompt response to my emailed
message.I really appreciate your understanding of this
project. This transaction is legitimate and is backed up
by the provisions of the financial and allied matters
act and all legal documents will be issued in your
name. I contacted you because you have the same last
name with late Mr.Burton and so you can apply for the
release of his money to you as his next of kin.

Late Mr Steve G. Burton was born in 1944 in United
States of America. He worked with Shell Petroleum
Company as an engineer and later retired to private
practice as a consultant and formed an oil sevicing
company. He operated an account with Zenith Security
Finance Sarl Lome Togo until his death. He had a wife
named Rhonda and two daugthters named Arlene and
Sherryl who died alongside with him in an auto accident
on the 21st of April,2001.

You must understand that in the finance
industry, chances or opportunities like this are common
but not heard. People put their monies in finance
companies and some of these accounts are either coded
or confidentially operated,therefore,when such people
die what do you think that happens to these monies when
nobody comes for their claims? Well, this is one of the
numerous avenues good "free" monies are made within
and amongst the officials.I did not mastermind My
client's death and I did not operate or manage his
account but i was his personal attorney so was privy to
his transaction with the finance company.I have in my
possession certificate of deposit and death certificate
which are the requirements for the claim.

The amount involved is huge so we have to understand
ourselves very well before we commence. As soon as you
indicate your interest i will send the required
paperwork for the project. Please note that this
transaction requires utmost trust,sincerity and
confidentiality.

You can reach me on +228-907 73 53. for further
clarification.

My good friend Steve,

I have received your mail and thank very you for

I have to make a little explanation here as a way of

the next of kin. I thank God that I found you as a
confidant and partner to benefit with me.

I will direct and advise you on what to do. Your
interest is highly protected as I cannot venture into
this business knowing the implications. As executive
and a well respected attorney here in Lome.Togo
Republic, the retroactive consequence will be
detrimental to me so I cannot even involve myself with
my entire career if iam not too sure of our claims and
arrangement.

for success is to write an application and fax it to
the Finance company's Foreign Operations manager Mr.

Dear friend Steve,

Thanks very much for your mail received. I understood
what you are saying.

Thank you very much for your wisdom and wise question.
I quite appreciation your intelligence.

Yes, my country Republic of Togo is an anglophone
country because we are colonised by the French during
the pre-colonisation in Africa by the western world. We
speak French as our international language but have
various ethnic languages

However , you should understand that this our mutual
benefit transaction is an international transaction
that is why it should be transacted with recognised
international language like English.

My good friend Steve, please that should not bother you.

Please endeavour to tender the application to the
finance firm to signal the official commencement of
this our mutual benefit transaction. Please as soon as
you tendered the application inform me.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours.
Mawoule

No, that's not a natural response. You ought to have
said something like "Ah! Thank God I have found
someone with whom I can communicate freely. Truly
Allah was at work when I found your name". Then you
would continue your letter in French. The only person
who would say "I understood what you are saying" is
someone who had to copy and past the text into
Babelfish IN ORDER TO understand what I was saying.
Really, if you're going to run a scam from a
francophone nation the least you can do is learn to
speak French to a reasonable standard.

That makes no sense. French is just as much an
international language as English. ESPECIALLY in
Africa. And if this is an International transaction,
why is it governed by your soi-disant "Financial and
Allied Matters Act", which I presume is an act of the
Togolese legislature?

I wonder if you know the authors of these little
doosies???

I hope it is abundantly clear to you that there is not
a snowflake's chance in Hell that I will send you my
bank details. It's NOT going to happen. I can't
believe anyone would be sucked in by your pathetic
attempt at con-artistry. Tell me honestly, has anyone
actually sent you their details? Have you ever made
any money out of this? If so, how much? I mean, I
know Americans are dumb people, but this would be a
spectacularly new level of stupidiy if you can earn
your living in this way. Does it actually happen?

Cheers,
