So this is about an advertisment in the spanish site anuntis.com about a Digital camera D2X from Nikon. It was of course faaar to cheap.

The seller wanted me to pay to the Western Union to his name and address long before the shipment here in Barcelona arrived. In the receipt from the UPS he tried to hide the tracking number but it was very poorely done. Just zooming in the image it got perfectly visible.

So I could see that there was a shipment but the packet was too heavy for the camera plus it was in state "exception" which mean it is stalled basically.

I actually used the blurred western union ticket from the Dennis, John case funny enough!!!

I can't give you the tracking number until you will make the payment, because if the package will be in Spain you can take the package if you know the tracking number. After you will make the payment you will not give me the money transfer control number until you will receive the pacage. After I will see the scanned paper from Western Union I will give you the tracking number. When you will receive the package you will give me the MTCN number and the deal will be off.

It should have arrived already, right? It was sent yesterday with
express UPS. That takes about 1 day UK-Spain.
Something is definitely wrong here. If I dont receive the delivery
today I will stop the moneytransfer.

Please don't understand me wrong but can you see this paper? Try to open the attachment, because I can't see the paper. I hope you don't joke with me. You can couver up only the MTCN with something. when you scan the paper.Send me again the paper because on this paper I can't see anything.

Mugus who get burned by baiters then learn that baiters exist. Knowing this, they are less likely to acquiesce to our demands. They're more likely to twig. While this may lose them some people who actually fall for the scam (they act a little suspicious, the scammer twigs), it is more likely to hurt baiters.

Basically, once scammers know there is active opposition, they become slightly smarter scammers. We don't want that, now do we?

If you get tired of a mugu, and we all have at some point or another, act suspicious, or 'find' a newspaper clipping about the scam and accuse him, or just disappear. Telling the scammer he's been scammed can get some funny responses, but in general isn't worth it.

Other than that, great job!

We try to "bait safe" -- which means we never give lads our real information, or other identifying marks that a lad, or his more motivated friends, could use to harm us or otherwise cause problems.

If an enterprising lad wanted to, he could find out who you were by searching for the gmail address you used in your bait, which might lead him here, which would show you posting your username, and then he could easily find your Ebay information (assuming that is you). Next step is to start making fake purchases or otherwise working to screw with your Ebay profile. I suppose a lad could go even farther than that, but this would seem enough for me.

It's your call, but much better safe than sorry. Just PM a mod and ask to change your username somewhat. Cheers. Smile
