I decided to try something different and answer one of the "Russian girl wants to relocate" letters. OK,how do you tell a scammer from someone who just wants to leave Russia and is short on cash? The typical Nigerian crap is obvious, but I would hate to impact a girl just trying to get out of a country with a screwed up economy. On the other hand, if its a scammer, I have work to do. And I'll have a lot of resources to throw at it as I just won the Microsoft/AOL lotto  |

Open up the headers and see what they show. Do you see The Bat! being used? Does her IP address show up as Mari-El? Is it a satellite ISP? They're all good indicators you're talking to a scammer. Otherwisse try Googling portions of her letters and see if you get any hits. |
