On most boards it's considered bad netiquette to respond to a thread after it has been dormant for, let's say, 30+ days. By this time most people would have forgotten the thread and would start reading it as if it were new, only to realize that they've read it all before.

In web-speak this "reviving" of a thread is called "necroing".
