Hey,
I am new here, and I just thought the idea was pretty hysterical.
I made some profiles on myspace and mail.com personals.
I was wondering how the heck they find you. A search for males between 40-60 in the USA that's single or divorced is returns an astronomical amount of hits.
Is there a way to make my profile more likely to come up in a scammer's search? |

Rinoa,
Before you start trying to attract scammers you would be well advised to assume a false identity just for that purpose.
You have way too much real information plastered all over the net.
BTW, love the butterfly wings. |

Well, I wouldn't be using this account. There's a fake g-mail account I've set up.
I don't think there's anyway to link me to that account.
Are we supposed to be under our fake identities here?
EDIT: I am actually a female, 21, but I'm pretending to be a middle aged old man. So, I guess the question is are you taking about my profile here, and other profiles of a young asian girl, or the fake profile i've set up of a white old dude whose info in no where on this site. |

The romance scams can only be gotten on romance/love/lonely type sites. The 419 are easier to invite.
Get a false identity at Gmail. Use the search engines to look for guestbooks. Enter a topic like:
Aviation Guestbook or Education Guestbook or Baseball Guestbook, and the results will bring you to sites with appropriate guestbooks.
DO NOT SIGN ON TO ANY GUESTBOOK THAT YOU CANNOT FIRST VIEW. The reason for this is some old software posts your IP. DO NOT SIGN A GUEST BOOK THAT HAS IP's OF FORMER SIGNERS PUBLISHED.
The search can be tedious at times because most modern software will not show your email address. That is so the scammers do not get to you. Aw Shucks.
You want a guestbook that shows your email address, but does not show your IP. And always say some nice about the site. In a short time the scammers will be harvesting your email address.
Yesterday I was careless and signed into one that showed my IP. I immediately wrote the webmaster and he was kind enough to delete my post. |
