I'm in conversation with what is most probably an online scammer, but she sounds very genuine. What gets me most of all is that the pictures she's sent me - all at my own request - are consistently the same person and don't look anything like the models or studio-sessions that I've seen in the databases of anti-scamming websites.

Any assistance in letting me know if you think they're from a scammer and if you've ever seen them before in a scam or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.

There are a couple where she's wearing a coat. She comes from Nigeria. I asked her about the hat and coat and she said she wears it for the cold season.

That girl looks familiar.
Usually, the nigerian romance scammers are easily to spot.
The language in the letters is strange.
If she has a profile on a dating site, usually they have some pretty strange details. Often the height and weight don't jive, hair color, eyes, etc.
Look at the headers of the email and see if the letters are coming from where she claims to be.
Post the letters here. They'll be obvious to some of the experienced romance baiters.
Don't get your hopes up on this one! From the little info you posted, I doubt she's real.

Ummmm, yes, they usually do. Most of them don't really introduce themselves as online scammers. I'd be most suspicious if such a bird would fall in love with me in real life, nevermind online. Maybe time to level out the hormone/reality-ratio; try a local bar or disco for some practising. Rolling Eyes

Well, none of us here uses their real name when baiting these scumbags. I would say you are pretty safe with a romance scammer, but nevertheless, they are criminals and we prefer to not let them know our real identity and whereabouts.

Those pix could be real,,,,,but i dought it,,,,seem them on other sites,,My Avatar is a pix of the real me,,,(yep) so is the 9mm Glock and walther PPk I carry....

I think it's fun to "play dumb" with these people sometimes. I think, baiting with a different name of course, you should keep chatting to "her". Ask her such questions as "How does it feel growing up as a white in Nigeria?", and "Do you find that women are marginilized in your country when compared to those of more-developed nations?".

Considering how small the population of whites must be (I could be wrong but I am guessing less than 1% of the total pop), "she" must have had some unique experiences "growing up white". I found this link, so I know there are at least 15 white people in Nigeria:

I did just that. Through yahoo messenger this time. She asked me which site we met and I told her she'd contacted a friend of mine, who didn't follow up, but thought that I would be interested to meet her... to which she promptly replied "You're not the type" then "bye"!

Oh, no... the rejection! I don't think I can live with it! (Yeah, right...)

Hmm the main suspect thing that sticks out with me are the photos. I also swear I have seen that girl somewhere.
