Shiver has received a plea from the owner of www.weneedyounow.com which is a genuine site seeking donations. The site was recently subjected to an attack by someone who clearly thought this was a fake site. The information supplied included sufficient personal details to persuade us that the site is legitimate. Please do not attempt to get it shut down or take any other action against it.

As to the purpose of the site:

Obviously we are not Richard Branson or the like, so I have set up a fundraising website at www.weneedyounow.com ... I've spread the word of the site around by emailing friends, putting it on various messageboards ... The site has been incredibly successful; we have raised over �10000 since the site went live on Wednesday ... Yesterday, our site was brought to its knees by an email-bombing attack .... I managed to pull a few tricks to stop it from happening again. However, it got me worried. I realise that my site must look a bit iffy. Therefore it is probably only a matter of time before someone tries again, either by the same method or by a denial of service attack. We were offline yesterday for four hours and I estimate that it cost us around �400 in donations.

The reason I am emailing you is this - if my site is mentioned on your forums, could you or one of your team of mods put in a good word for me please, and let folk know it's a genuine case?

After the events of yesterday, I've become very nervous that our site will be attacked again by a well-meaning "scam-buster" and I thought I should take steps to avoid this.

I have been keeping an eye on the news section on David's site, and the donations are slowing down after the initial flurry. Sad

If anyone feels able to make even the smallest donation, or to post a link to his site at other places they go to help spread the word, I am sure it would be appreciated. Smile

Cheers Eight, it's probably a throw away addy anyway, but he probably still checks it. How about if 419eater gave Dave permission to say his site has been checked out by www.419eater.com and it is a legitimate site, he can stick that on his home page? Might deter others from messing his site up!

I am sure the Terminator will retreat the moment they realise it was a fund-raising effort. They really should have checked a little more that it was fraudulent and that script was awful.

My mother died of the same condition.

The drug they talk about is a member of a series of agents that attempt to restrict blood supply to tumour masses. Their names commonly end with "statin", or similar. The NHS always seems to be behind the Americans in these treatments, and even if it is approved here, they will talk of the up-front cost of it as a reason not to give it. We see that in the press right now with other tumour treatments.

I took my mother to Mexico in the end, to someone that was willing to try to slow it, and they didn't want paid by Western Union. A dedicated cancer hospital that knew the enemy, and it cost less than the efforts of the NHS, who did very little indeed, and I paid my taxes throughout, before, and since.

they were at �24k on Mar 18, superb stuff.

I don't think the aa419 database allows legitimate entries, but it does in the forums. when aa419 is up again we could post an extra 'seal of approval' (if you like) and show this as a real website by changing its 'state' to legitimate.
he could then link to that forum topic on his website.
just a suggestion for David ( iknow you suggested to post it everywhere Eight but I can't check on aa419 to see if its already posted)

^^^^^ Tommy is not who was on the original site, the original one was a couple called Dave and Su, Dave set up the site to raise funds for Su's treatment, Su had cancer if I remember correctly, they are now raising money for Tommy, and as they have reached their taget, I assume a new needy person will be on there soon, a very worthwhile website Thumbs up

Yes, Dave and Su keep the site running with updates and put Tommy's story up to help raise the money to send him to Disney World. I've no doubt that they will go on to help someone else soon. Definitely a top site. Thumbs up
