i would obey his commands up to the point where he wants you to send money then get paranoid and ask for proof of his identity.

Only recommendation I would make is as noted previously, don't ask for pictures too soon. So far you are still working within his script. He is just cut/pasting stuff to you. The fun really starts when you get him off this script. You might try asking for help doing something he requires of you. That often works getting them off script.

Good work on the fax. Telephone excuse might be pushing it unless you are playing a character who is really paranoid. Good fun to be had there. You can ask him to go through elaborate passwords and verification to prove he is the person you are supposed to be dealing with etc. Also you could just claim that you don't want to give out your telephone because you recieve a lot of telemarketing calls. Make him think you will be willing if he proves himself better. That might be a good lead in for the picture but make him work for it first. Twisted Evil

Luckily he still seems willing to play but I still think you are making demands of him too early. If I may make a suggestion. If he isn't willing to write the story then just go ahead and follow his lead for a while then intruduce another scammer pretending to be him.

This is the reason you asked for the picture or story as that can't be faked by another person and he can't just pull a photo off the internet and claim it's him. When the other scammer insinuates himself you can demand that this lad provide proof that he is who he says he is and not the other guy. You can then refer him to the previous email for the sign to prove that you are communicating with the person you were originally contacted by. You could even claim that the other scammer did send you the picture but the sign was wrong and that's how you caught on that he was a fake.

To apply the baiting=fishing anology, you can't just pull them into the boat. You need to play them in and out a little.

Yeah, don't give up at this point. They will try this when you don't seem to be following the script. It's supposed to scare you into doing what you are told by pulling the deal out from under you.

I got an interesting result at this point in a bait. I told the lad, "well it's been good knowing you" and shot off a letter to his "barrister" saying he had dropped me and our deal was off. I got an immediate reply from both and the deal was right back on again.

After that I slapped him good for the on again off again dealing and he went completely off script from then on. He actually admited he was a scammer. Now I'm trying to get the lad to help me out in stealing a billion dollar shipment of cocain. Of course something will go wrong and my character will end up sleeping with the fishes (got a photo to prove it) and the lad will end up a hunted man by the authorities and the drug cartel.
