Unfortunately, the 419 victim relief budget had to be scrapped for cutting taxes for the steenkin rich, so I am afraid there won't be a pay back... Confused

(Excuse if this was too political, but it is something that bothers me no matter where it happens, especially if the ones passing these laws are among the beneficiaries)

Actually, a loss due to theft might be deducted from income in a tax return.
I believe it's a "casualty" loss, like your barn falling down, you get a tax break.
Some mugu heard this, that's how rumors get started, lol.

I'm going to ask for a receipt on my current baits (as soon as I can figure out how to use these email attachment things). I'll explain that they're for tax purposes. Maybe even do some research into which section of US tax law applies to theft... nah, too lazy.

Losses paid for by IRS? Well a portion, maybe.

If the deal for this year is the the same as the past, a person would have to have itemized deductions and then subtract 2% of the gross aggregate income from the loss. The remainder would then be subtracted from the gross and decrease the taxable income. Got it? You will be tested on this Friday. It would be an audit flag. I hope the person kept his WU receipts and control numbers and talked to a real tax professional.

The tax code is being "Streamlined" because of....slap, getting too political must stop....

I hope I don't get slapped for a necro on this thread but since the recent repost was closed...

You might beable to write off your expenses baiting if you started a non-profit organization in the US...

It's interesting that they mention that they target mainly white americans but in the "I Go Chop Your Dollars" the vics did not look white or specifically american??? whatever...

Or they seem to leave out the fact that many of these bastards pose as charities or try to usurp the credibility or legitimate operations.

In short the article goes a little far in romanticising being a 419 scammer.
