Ok,so he wants cash...how strange....
Well I don't have all he needs, but will a 250 down payment do?
The car crash idea was suggested by the fact in reallity I lost my bumper to a 38ton lorry the day before... 130 to have a new one.
Hi,
Unfortunatly, I do not have 2240 avalable to me directly, due to
having just spent most of my weeks salary on repairing the car after
an incident with a lorry with lead to me having to replace most of the
front pannels.
I have 250 avalable at the moment, can this be given as an advanced
deposit? The rest can follow when I am paid next Thursday.
I will arrange to send that money directly I hear from you, that that
is OK. I'm looking forward to my Prize money - maybe I can replace the
old car with it. Would be just after I had it repaired...
Thank you for your continued help and support
James Rice
ATTENTION: James Rice <jamesrice**@****.com>
I have just spoken to my superior officer as regards your request of making advance deposit of 250 out of the required 2240, he said you can go ahead with the payment so that your claims file can be open which means the claims process has been initiated.
You are required to immediately transfer 250 through western union money using our Assistance account officer's information given below:
NAME OF RECEIVER'S: Mr. Ashley Akin Campbell
ADDRESS OF RECEIVER: 221 Albemarle Street, London W1S 4BS, United Kingdom.
Note that the change in name of the receiver is due to the fact that our account officer is presently not on sit. You are required to send the western union receipt to us via email attachment or through fax immediately you make the payment.
I await your prompt response later today.
Regards,
Mr. James Ivan.
Amazing... he'll take 250 by WU...
Hi, 250 sent, the rest will follow Thursday, attached is a scan of the recipt.
Thanks for your helpful and accomidating behaviour.
James
a nice 'WU.jpg' is attached that he can't open cos its a chunk of *.dll
ATTENTION: James Rice <jamesrice**@****.com>
I could not view the attached western union receipt, can you please send it as a fax to +44 8701224168 or resend it properly through email attachment.
Regards,
Mr. James Ivan.
I got this one twice, and did nothing, cos I was away over the Week end. On Monday I tried to resend the(same) attachement and got a bounce from yahoo. Still, a good scammer never gives up...

Somones killed his old email... he was feeling generous, so I got this twice. Natuaraly I replied in kind...
Hi,
I tried to resend the scan, but the emails bonced.
I've reattched the scan to this message.
James
Stange to say, when it arrived - no attachement was present
opps, forgot the attachment
---------- Forwarded message ----------...
This time we have the same old dll attached... For good measure I sent this three times...I then took pity on him and gave him a real WU form, the size of a postage stamp, and looking like it had been under the sea for weeks. Read it - no hope
Ok, just checked my image I sent you, must be corrupt, I can't open it.
Try this one.
James
Dispite my efforts this is still no good to him... bother
ATTENTION: James Rice <jamesrice**@****.com>

OK, so lets try the fax. but of course I've forgotten his (premium rate) number...
Hi, I'll try the fax, whats the number?
James
ATTENTION: James Rice
The fax number is +44 8701224168
Ok,I'll send it now.
James
Let me know as soon as you send the fax
Fax machine seems to have died, will see the boss about a new one.
James
[Strange strange...]
Fax is going to be down for a bit, so here are the details
SENDERS NAME: James Charles Rice
SENDERS ADDRESS: 2 Bank Place, Midford, Bucks, BU38 4RU, UK
AMOUNT SENT: 250
MONEY TRNSFER CONTROL NUMBER: 109760273
RECEIVERS NAME: Mr. Thomas Houser
TEXT QUESTION: How many trees are there in the wood
TEXT ANSWER: Four Hundred and Ninteen
James
Anyone notice that special number? Also, I had a digit missing from a propper MTCN number, I only gave him nine digits...
ATTENTION: James Rice <jamesrice**@****.com>
The informtion you sent as has been taken to the western union agent location for confirmation of the payment and our assistance account was told that you did not send the 250 Pounds and I noticed that the MTCN number you sent is incorrect as the MTCN of any western union transfer should be 10 digit while the one you sent was 9 digit. So be serious.
Oh how sad... off to the WU office, and they can't deal with it...He must have been feeling miffed, I got this in triplcate. Didn't spot the 419 reference though
Sorry about that, just checked and seen I left a digit off that
number. My fault, I should have double checked when I copied it out...
It should have been 1097260273
Sorry
James
I'm waiting to see what happens now... any suggestions for what to do after the second failed trip to WU? |

Well, he's still on the hook...
WU seem to think its Ok.
I've posted a photocopy of the recipt to the collection address,
should be with you by this evening.
James
ATTENTION: James Rice
I await the photocopy and I want you to know that our account officer will still try at the western union agent location later today. Please let me know when you are sending the remaning part of the processing fee. Have a good day.
Regards.
This will be his third failed visit to WU IIRC...
I've got a (very bad) photocopy of a WU ticket to send him, but I won't for a bit. Afterall, the rest of the cash becomes avalable tomorrow...
I'm wondering about an accusation of imcompitence/being a scammer, to try fo a photo tropy to conferm who he is... maybe one with a reference to the tree in the wood again... |

WU confirmations can be vlaidated (most times) via the internet. So there's a excellent chance he didn't leave the cafe to see the the transfer failed.
Tell him you spoke with Western Union and he doesn't need the number. He can just go into Western Union and present an ID. They will give him the money because of the small amount. That will get him out of the cafe. He will argue for the MTCN. You've given it to him and you are sure he's lying. According to Western Union, the money has been picked up and you want confirmation that he didn't get it. You paid the 250, he picked it up and now you want to speak to a supervisor of the lottery. Someone in that office is stealing Western Union transfers and you demand an investigation!
(edited to clarify the supervisor of the fake lottery system and not the supervisor at the Western Union office) |
