'Gee' is probably lads going all 1337 after the rest of the world has pretty much abandoned it.

This goes way back. Lads referred themselves as G Men in the early days of the internet. It probably amused them as a tag because they used various heads of the FBI in their formats and regarded themselves as some kind of scamming elite. A lad in-joke. G Man, Guy or Guyman are interchangeable.
