I am an ex scam baiting enthusiast looking to branch into other forms of scam baiting along. I mostly did the tech support scams, but I really want to branch out and diversify my scam baiting skills.

I've taken a tech support scam call and tried to follow his Windows instructions on my Linux laptop, acting all confused. But it isn't safe if he calls my home phone.

I joined back 2005 0r 2006. I cant remember my original username. Any email accounts would have been long gone. I had a lot of fun for quite a few years. Helped and was helped with some great baits. I relocated and with a new life came a different lifestyle. Life has turned again and went holey shit 419 eater. It looks like I did rejoin a couple of years back. That was just before I broke my neck. All good now. It's great to see a lot of the old members and moderators are still here. Shiver I thought you where taking a break or did that happen and you are back. I'm going to jump back in collect some sleaze bags to bait.
I still have my great t-shirt from the "Kenny Scott Foundation" if anyone remembers who master minded that. I did actually where it in the street one day and I was berated by an old lady. the slogan was "Helping children with chemicals."

I'm sorry to hear your FIL has been a victim. In all seriousness, the best thing would be to close any old email accounts, create a brand new one (or simply not use email) and only give the contact information to friends. Often, once a person has fallen for a scam, the lads will continue to target the victim using different methods and modalities.

Total noob scambaiter looking to get started in this fine art. I'm from the US (Minnesota) and I enjoy screwing with lads. I have had a number of scammers, calls and email, I have toyed with in the past and only a week ago stumbled across this scambaiting stuff. Ironically enough, I have a lad I am dealing with via email right now who wants to buy my computer on Craigslist...I never put an add on craigslist for selling a computer. lol

Technically, it just so happens that my first bait was actually around the year 2000 when a Nigerian lady sent me a $5000 check because "it can only be cashed in the US". Oddly enough, when i got the check, I sent a copy to the FBI and I framed the original. Guess what? 18-ish years later and I still have that check. Very Happy

Welcome to Eater scammedbycourier. Be sure to bait safely, roll up your sleeves and reply to a few scammers. Personally I never met a scammer that I did not like and always reply to them with "I'm interested, tell me more."

Having just signed up I really love all the resources and info which is available here! Having a reasonable background of knowledge in computing I am really looking forward to learning about scambaiting especially as every second you are doing it you are potentially saving someone else from falling for the scam.

First off, welcome to 419Eater, everybody.

Spock'sBeard1701, I'm glad to hear you are concerned about baiting in a safe manner as we preach that here. Unfortunately, you won't find the tech support, IRS, or Rachel from Card Services type scams here.

We deal with Advance Fee Fraud (often referred to as "419," based on the Nigerian Criminal Code regulating this). These Tech Support and IRS scams are not AFF.
These types of scams almost always begin with the scammer calling their victims, making it impossible to bait safe at the entry level. We preach safety to the nth degree here. A call to a number connected to real life throws this right out the window.

These lads love their revenge, too! See:
We wouldn't consider this "baiting" as we define it. It's much more akin to one-off harassment. Sure, you might be able to get them into long conversations but it's a total dead-end in the normal baiting sense. If it does go anywhere, and you invite the scammer into your computer/VM (again, remember that safety issue?), these lead to illegal activities we do not advocate. Period.

The calls lead to few places and generally educate the caller instead of the psychological manipulation we prefer.
There are a ton of other places that would be happy to discuss this. We don't need to be one of them as we have our hands full with the AFF lads already.
