So I decided to try my hand at baiting a gold seller. Reached out to him asking about a specific type of gold. After the usual formalities as it turns out they did not deal in the kind of gold I was looking for. They were however interested in any colleagues I might have that buy/sell gold and enticed me with commission. Well of course I just might have known of someone. That character contacted them a few days later, and a few days went by which brings us to tonite. I just received this message....

Yes,

I use Gmail for baiting. And this is the first time I have been called on it by a lad. LOL

I obviously have a rebuttal. She is a colleague and friend. She was in my office this morning when we discussed your proposal. She reached out to you from my office on my wifi. That is why the ip addresses were from the same location.

I guess there is another possibility

I have been using this one character for a while and baited a lot of lads with it. Is it possible they are keeping a database of baiters/time wasters and my email addy is on it ? Smile

I was under the impression that your IP was not shown with Gmail. Unless it is just lads, being lads, and lying. I hope my ignorance is not showing. Embarassed

Are you using Gmail from the web interface, not Thunderbird, Outlook or any other mail software?

B8er, you are completely correct.
Using Gmail from the web-interface will not reveal one's IP, but any mail-software will do, including Windows Live Mail etc.

Have you done a google search on your character's names and email addresses? This might help you see what the lad saw.

I think the lad is confused on the IP part, but no need to educate them.

You hit the nail on the head. This is the first thing that comes up when I search my character email address in google. I guess I have been "blacklisted" among the 419ers.

The header has been snipped, now. Give it a month or so and do a search. You might still be able to use the character.

If the [email protected] email address is your character then you need to remove it from the header snippet above as well.
