Hi.
As I'm helping my boss sell off excess inventory at the shop, I'm getting scammers demanding I contact them when posting items for sale on Facebook, but this particular little slice of fruitcake wanted my last four of SSN, mother maiden name, credit card number and expiration date out of the blue, so she could "deposit" my payment once I had sent her the laptop we're liquidating... on my dime.
I played along, and got a physical shipping address on top of a name and email. What do I do in this case? As I haven't been mentored, I don't want to bait her/them, and haven't provided any info about myself. The laptop was sold this morning, so I'll simply cut off all communication with this person, and block her.
I won't post anything related to the Facebook profile in question until a mod indicates what to do. Can I post the screencaps? I've hidden every other party's info, of course.
I'm fully aware that the address in question could be that of an unwitting "mule" or re-shipper, but would it be a good idea to contact law enforcement?
Thank you. |

So far, no crime worth pursuing has been broken and law enforcement would "file it away."
You know to cut off all contact. Please follow through on that. You can pass the shipping address, etc. to me, or any other Moderator.
If the profile is being used for a scam and you can show evidence, feel free to post it, although ScamWarners.com is a better place for it. |
