My feel is this lad's scrambling to keep up.
His response to my suggestion he check with the issuer about his card being reported as stolen:

The transfer failed. I told him I could get a cashier's or certified check. He told me to deposit cash in his account. Pcoblem is, there are no Woodforest Banks in California, although there are many forests and lots of wood.

Got another piggy. This one is at BofA, and he put the bank's address as an apartment in Brooklyn, with the street name misspelled. If he tells me to go to the bank and deposit into that account, I'm in trouble, because there really is a BofA branch a few blocks from Jean's house. At least there was when I lived near there.
