When I first read about baiting and came here, the first thing I did was look at the Letters Archive to see some examples of baiting. In that section, a couple of things (possibly more than that) are done that Eater frowns upon: cash baiting and burning the bait. While I quickly learned why these things are not done (and the reasons why), others may get the wrong idea about it, thus adding to the misconception that baiters "scam the scammer".
Just thought I would point that out (though I doubt I'm the first to do so). |

Perhaps those baits should be in a section headed "Things That We Did That We Don't Do Any More". |

Yeah, I mean, it isn't a pressing issue or anything. It has been the same way for a very long time, and if someone gets far enough into it to sign up and post here, they're going to be straightened out rather quickly. |
