So my friend is looking for an apartment to rent and found a great deal. Too good to be true, honestly. She emails for info, exchanges a couple of emails, and then she receives this:

Thanks for getting back to me with the contract details , you have to understand that you have to pay the Booking refundable reservation deposit to secure the Apartment till your move in date which is after the contract is been forwarded to you and as soon as the payment is been confirmed i would have to leave my work and travel over to my Apartment to Hand over the Keys and some valuables document to you Due to my past Bitter Experience.

Booking reservation deposit
first month rent $1800
security deposit $1800 refundable at the end of a week in my apartment.
Total $3600

as soon as everything workout i can also drive over to pick you up from your present address directly to my Apartment without you going into any stress

Note : if not please with the Apartment all payment is refundable At immediate Effect with no Hidden Charges. that is why it was called refundable reservation deposit which will also be written in the contract and i'm pretty sure you going to love my Apartment and will love to leave there as long as you willing to stay in Boston .

if you would like to proceed Kindly get back to me Asap with your Exact present Address so as to forward the details to my Lawyer to start working on the Contract and ill have it sent to you as soon as my lawyer is done with it

I told her to stay away because this is surely a scam. Tons of red flags.

I would love to string this guy along to see where this leads, but I don't have the time nor the talent. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll send you the contact details.
