Just had a piece of crap from claim to be from the irs trying to get personal information. Decided to join. From what I gathered he's from NY and focusing on elderly

Without more info we really can't be sure what type of scam you are dealing with but I suspect a phone scam. If I'm correct then you should post the information at our sister site Scamwarners. There is a link at the top of the page you can use to go there.

Welcome to 419Eater. We don't really deal with the IRS, Microsoft Tech Services, or Rachel from Cardholder Services schemes here. There are many members here familiar with the scams, but they are not the Advanced Fee Fraud we target.

I agree with the latter, but doubt the former. They use VOIP and spoofers to appear from a variety of locales, but never their own.
