My wife and I have been in the wars so far this year, I was in hospital February to March 4, this year, told to go home and get lots of rest.

On the 20th of March the wife then gets her 4th bad turn of Encephalitis, so there I am again back and forth to hospital, until the Social worker comes up with a brilliant plan to send the wife home on a Bank Holiday Sunday, whilst she has the week off.

So I turn up with a patient mobile chair to be told she is not going home, Doctor has declared that she is dangerous.

A quiet word with a staff nurse we know (Nurse knew us from 2012 the previous time the wife was in that ward (3rd visit) now we get a cup of tea in the evening.

But it seems wife is so weak on her legs needs 2 helpers and would be unsafe outside by herself.

Now being arrange to have her admitted to a care home, I have to live in our house.
As the council is sorting out the arrangements, I remembered an article about care home fees in one of our nationals, by a firm of Solicitors who fight to get Continuing Healthcare Funding, which would suit the wife she would need it for the rest of her life.

At home, had to laugh, a Irishman from a group of travellers knocked at the door, pointed out that my neighbors guttering was filthy with dirt and mine was all black and he could see plants moving in the wind, he was told its going stay black.
The guttering is black, the plants are in my neighbors gutter, he is a prison officier.

Then tried to get me to have my patio cleaned, still told its staying like that, when I told him my wife is in hospital, became very polite and saying sorry, didn't see him and more.[/b][/i]

A spot of Deja Vu here for me. I wish you all the very best of good fortune, Fo'. Main thing is to keep that positive spirit you have. Also, I found -don't ask, thump tables if necessary. I've lost count of the number of Chief Exec's and Managers I had to put right when fighting on behalf of my wife - but it worked, and left me with no regrets.

So sorry to read this, Fo'andles. I went through this last year with my wife. At that time I knew it was time to man up and remember the "in sickness and in health" line we spoke at the altar. Take care of your wife and we'll take care of the lads. You and your life partner are in my thoughts.
