At what point do you drop lads?

I've seen a couple of threads around about lads dropping the baiter, whether it be because they catch on, really believe there is a victim but that he won't send the money quickly, refusing to send passports... etc.

It got me thinking about dropping the lads themselves. Have you ever dropped a lad? If so, what was the dealbreaker?

I drop lads all the time.

It's usually because either I get bored with them, or they are stuck on some issue (i.e., they demand a passport or they refuse to cough up a bank account) and refuse to budge.

Other's I've dropped just because I can't seem to do anymore with the bait. I'm a straight baiter and don't try the fancy stuff that you read about.

But usually I drop them when I can't get them off script.

I drop almost all of my lads. Generally I drop them once I reach three or so piggies, or when I know that they are unlikely to give me any more. For my style of baiting there's no point in prolonging the bait. Ideally, from the time of first contact to when I drop them it's maybe 3-6 days.

I drop them but never in a manner that wises them up! The failures always completely on their side, that we they keep trying to guess what went wrong.

They refuse to cough up the payment. They keep getting chopped. They refuse to give up an account into which I can transfer the payment directly. They are an incompetent lawyer and another one has just emailed me about helping my cause. Etc. Etc.

Lately i have dropped lads because i didn't like their script. More specificly the kind that ask me to jump and reply to their other email and just after that they ask me to jump again and talk to their lawyer or what not.

I drop all of my Refugee Scammers after two accounts. Then I wait and hope they send their "I got out of the camp" script. It usually contains another E-mail address and Phone number to post at the Warning site.

Others I keep trying to hammer for one reason or another. My Lotto lads I presently keep trying to wheedle more accounts from so as to score higher points up in Inspector Gadgets Lotto Contest.

In the end it's all up to you. Sometimes if you drop a Lad because they won't send you a bank account they will come right back at you with a different E-mail address. Such was the case last year with Sean John. I ended the bait because he refused to let me send my money by bank account. He came at me with a second E-mail addy and I made it clear that the previous loan I applied for wouldn't let me pay fees by bank transfer. I ended up getting 6 or more accounts from him and started a massbait on him.

I guess I'm the exception. I almost never drop lads. I keep responding until they drop me in frustration, and even then I make sure by poking them a few more times before giving up. Some of my best baits have been prolonged or revived by this method.

Relating this to my site killing, I never drop sites either. I report them until they get killed or the domain registration expires. Quite often I see the same fake site templates popping up over and over again, and I know it's the same lads coming back for more. I'm always happy to whack the latest iteration of their sites, of course.

I rarely drop Lads - but I try to push some of them so that they drop me either from frustration or plain anger.

Some of them come back trying to continue the scam in some way; others play the Partner from Paraguay card; or they try a different scam, but leave their fingerprints all over things.

The notorious L0pez 4li tried three different scams on my characters, but couldn't hide his trademark bad temper (such as "Don't be a barstaaad") or the "You can hear me tapping the boxes" routine.

I find myself dropping them if I'm bored with them or like Big Al said, with the Senegal lads, after I get 2 piggies.

As long as they aren't mind-numbingly boringly scripted, I keep poking them until they can't take any more. I like Big X's style. Continue with the confusion until they go berzerk. Then poke them a few more times to make sure they are down for good.

Then once I think I'm completely dropped, I will respond to the same lad from a different character. Rinse/Repeat Very Happy

I like the gentle transition from the polite, properly worded first scripts through to the now off-script poor composition and grammar whining, descending finally to the FULL CAP desperation and rants (whist wasting their time and getting piggies etc in the process).

I then drop the bait hopefully leaving the lad in a complete state of flux.

Like so many, I keep them on the griddle until the juice is burned out. Once the piggies are had, I take them in one of two directions: 1) get more and more confusing (sorry, I'm old and don't remember things that well) or abusive (where's my money, you bastard) or 2) I pass the really promising lads off to one of my other characters to spin him up again. The evil attorney, a relative trying to chop, etc.

I only consider a bait really successful if the lad wanders off with his eyes glazed over without ever realizing he's been had.

Makes me smile.
