I received a random call a few days ago, and the ESL student claimed he was calling from Microsoft.
Now we all should know, Micro$oft does not call consumers, even to warn them of virus infections on their computers..

Butt, that was the pitch..

He asked for remote access, so he could "Remove" said virus.
(Along with a credit card number for payment)

I suggested he was a criminal, and I had his phone and am reporting him to the FBI.

He did hang up, and I'm sure he was "Spoofing" his phone number..

But, FYI, Micro$oft never calls..

Yep, had a relative stung by this very scam a few months ago. Phishing plus hacking. They took the credit card informs and scoured her computer for biodata and more money leads. She got it sorted and the credit company sorted the fraudlent transactions. The only loss was her cell phone. Seems the lad didn't want to give up on trying to continue the scam and called day and night from a "not available" number so she changed phone numbers.

That call itself is baitable and fair game for whatever you might think up. I could not be bothered to follow his directions because my porn video was still playing, even though that was likely the reason they had the virus alert in the first place. For some reason he got offended and hung up when I asked for some suggestions on porn videos.

I had one call my in-laws. Sadly for him i answered. After about 15 minutes he asked if i was joking with him and after a while he was very agitated. It ended with him cursing me and hanging up accompanied to our roaring laughter.

I've had them call me a couple times. The last time, I played along, pretending to click where they told me. After about 10 mins I called him out on being a scammer using some not so nice language. He insisted not but then proceeded to chastise me for the language I was using. So of course my language got worse and eventually he hung up on me. It felt really good!! After that I warned my mom cause she's exactly the type of person that could fall for this.

Well to be fair i have had one call, but the line was terrible, i could barely hear what they were saying so i hung up.

These have been going around for a while, and I would dearly love to play with one...

...But the only time one has ever chosen to call me was the precise moment when my PC was in bits all over the lounge floor undergoing an extensive upgrading (motherboard, CPU, Memory, everything...)...

...So when they called and said they've detected a problem with my computer, I could not stop laughing long enough to try and mess them about...

A friend of mine has fallen for two of these and probably will fall for another...I simply don't have the time or patience to Babysit her. Luckily I was able to get a copy of her 'Contract' and was amazed at the complexity of the operation. Searches sent me from Toronto to Krakow to New Delhi etc. I had some 'Fun' calling them in the middle of the night although this really went nowhere.

I have received two calls from this type and have never been able to be fully attentive. First I had company so it lasted about 15 minutes and the other though longer was while I was chatting with a couple of my own pets. The second call was about 20 plus minutes and resulted in 'Go get a Job you 'MuthaflawkeringAsholer' or something to that effect.

Essentially I put my phone on Handsfree and pretended to be booting my system(s) up. Every few minutes he would say "Are you there Sir?" and I would respond "Yes". Then the questions and I'd say "Hang on there's someone at the Windows." After a bit I'd get the "Are you there Sir?" Before too long my Windows were as clean as they could be! Sparkling actually!

I'm sure I could do an hour with this bunch but they seem to call at the most inconvenient times....
