Interesting project targeting victims rather than the scammers.

Call me off here but you may want to rephrase the 'targeting' into 'seeking out'. It is much easier to stop these types of scams on the home front where you have the legal means than it is to go over to the places these scammers operate. West Africa is too corrupt to recover victims like this.

Sorry I don't quite understand what you mean.

Victims are being contacted after making an international fund transfer to one of several West African nations. They aren't seeking them out its a targeted approach. You make a transfer you get a letter.

I think they realise they can't affect anything in West Africa and instead have taken this approach to target victims and raise general awareness by pushing victim stories in the media.

I'm sure the police would like an arrest and they did get a Nigerian recently in a house selling scam but he was most likely shown out the back door after the press left. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-08-15/arrest-in-nigeria-over-real-estate-fraud/4890178

Sorry, just the term 'targeting' conjures up other things in my mind. Maybe I am alone in that though. It just sounded like LE was going after the victims for legal prosecution at first but after watching the video I was a little relieved to find out that is not the case. Like the news clip says, often times third parties hold the victims guilty of their gullibility rather than the scammers.

Either way it is a good thing LE is doing on the home front in Australia and probably more effective!
