Hello, Everyone --

I ran across this site a week or so ago as I was looking for ways to “report” scam emails. The results of my cursory seek-and-destroy exploration were disappointing. When I attempted to report the spam to published abuse addresses for Yahoo and PeoplePC, my emails bounced! This left me feeling frustrated by their obvious lack of concern, and slightly violated by continued email attempts to scam me.

One day as I was angrily marking scam emails before deleting them, I remembered 419eaters. Then I thought long and hard about the poor unfortunates that actually to succumb to these fraudsters.

I have read much on this excellent website, and pondered at length whether or not baiting was for me. I have come to the conclusion that as noble and worthy such an endeavor is, I’m afraid I’m just not cut out for it.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t support everyone else’s fine efforts. I have decided to play an active yet minor role: supplying experienced, successful baiters with new leads. Since I have several email accounts, I seem to have an unending source of :poop: at my disposal.

I have studied the threads on proper surplus email posting, and though I’ve made mistakes I’m learning quickly -- I promise to improve!!!

I admire and salute each and every one of you, and I’m happy to have a small hand in thwarting the evil ones who seek to defraud and harm other human beings. I’m sure there is a very special place in hell just for them.

Thanks for posting in Surplus! Could you also post in Scamwarners? That way other people targeted by the scammers will recognize them as scams, even after they've fallen out of Surplus.

If I may suggest: if you find the time to open a new throw away email account, you could just try one bait and see how you like it. IMHO, a little hands on experience often trumps a lot of hard thinking.

This is the nice thing about that hobby. you never have to take a bite bigger than you can chew. When you want to stop, just stop, anytime.

@ vonpaso xlura -- Yes, of course I’ll be happy to look into posting over at Scamwarners. Though I have deleted the emails themselves, I have (fortunately) saved a doc copy of every single post I’ve already made here at Surplus.

@ next victim -- Thanks!!! And yes -- I’ve become much more comfortable with posting now that I’ve had lots of practice! I am in my comfort zone at this time as I am a freelance writer by profession.

@ cow -- Thanks -- LOL, you are quite persuasive, my friend!!! At this point, I figure if I share all that ::poop:: that graces my email account, the more we can spread the ScamLuvzzz around to those who so greatly deserve it. One day I may feel comfortable enough to try a bait, but maybe setting others up with leads will end up being my niche.

Secondly, as a baiter, I truly appreciate new leads, letters and targets. You are contributing by keeping surplus supplied and helping victims at SW. Thank you for your continuing efforts.

I find it utterly hilarious that a guy who says baiting is not for him has the title "Master Baiter" under the username. Laughing

Welcome to Eater, Hysssssteria. All help is welcome and besides, I at least find myself sometimes looking for a specific type of scam or a lad from a specific country (Malaysia, to be exact), but can't find one from my catcher account, so I for one am glad you're here.

Baiting isn't for everyone -- I tried, and I'd get so mad at the scumbags that I'd get to slapping the lad and it ended only several exchanges later! Pretty counterproductive. Laughing

But then I ran across the Fake Sites forum and found my niche.

Now I slap hosters and registrars. j/k Wink

I think it's commendable you're posting in Surplus, and especially ScamWarners -- that can stop a lad in his tracks when a potential vic finds it. So get comfy and settle in. Hope you'll stay a while! Very Happy
