I got a call from these people saying I owe money from a pay loan. I've never taken out a pay day loan. I was suspicious because of the Indian sounding voice. I was told I was going to be sued for $7000 and arrested but if I paid them $430 they would "drop the charges". The catch is that I can only pay using Green Dot prepaid Visa cards. The number they call from is 925-331-6002. I've been having fun prank calling these losers. |

We require evidence when posting phone numbers--but in this case, I consider the 800 notes to be enough. It appears that these people have been pretty active:

However, I do want to point out that a few posters in that thread indicated that the scammers had rather complete information, including social security numbers, for the people they called.
It sounds like identity theft could be a concern, and you should be alert to the possibility. |

Yeah always be cautious of anyone asking you to pay them over the phone, or if they ask for pertinent information. Always call back the company themselves. I have been called before in a similar situation for a <idiot spammer can't even get his link straight> due, although I have never taken out one in my life. I have also had people call, saying I owed Payday Loans in the United Kingdom. This is just ridiculous.. the scams they try to come up with. (oh, you mean like trying to place their links on anti-scam boards? )

These people called me and threatened to have me arrested and jailed. I told them to please come to my door because I had called the Attorney General's office and the FBI to report them because of a previous call and I would have police officers waiting to arrest them. Haven't heard from them since. They were calling me at work, home, and on my cell.
After I spoke to them the first time, I called the payday loan company I have dealt with and they transferred me to their fraud unit and told me to make sure to report these people to law enforcement, which I did. Since they wanted me to send them money via Western Union, I also called the Wester Union fraud unit. |

The FDIC has just wrapped up a one-year pilot program, trialing a bank account template known as Safe Accounts that are intended to entice the unbanked to register. The pilot program has yielded some pretty great outcomes. Get a [Deleted stupid spam link from idiot spammer] and to help pay for your overdraft fees. |
