Hi, just wanted to introduce myself to this forum, and wasn't sure exactly where to do it, o I figured I'd start right here. A little bit about what brought me here. I have a myspace page (yes there are a few of us left with one), and one day received a friend request from a very attractive young lady. Of course I accepted and soon received messages asking for my cell number so we could text instead of message. I'm dumb but not that dumb, but I kept messaging her. She told me of the pain in past relationships she's suffered and how committed she is to finding a true love, a person who would not treat her so poorly but she could share a life with, with God as her rock and salvation. Each message she sent was like a book long, basically describing the perfect woman any man could ever desire. I'd heard vaguely of internet scams and such, but I couldn't really figure out what the end result of this particular scam was aiming at, so for fun I kept her talking, falling ever so slowly more and more I love with her (or so I hoped she thought). I figured something was up, and rather than just do the boring old "block User" I thought i'd let it play out for a while, still not sure where it was going. During down times between messages, I did a google image search of the picture in her profile, and apparently its a picture that has been used in numerous other "romance scams". After reading up a little on what that was exactly, my new friend's intentions are starting to become clearer, though no monetarial requests have been made as of yet. Doing some of this research, I came across this web site, and just about wet myself from laughing so hard reading one of the stories of scam baiting, it was the one where the baiter actually got the scammers to do a re-creation of Monty Python's "Dead Parrot" skit. Amazingly inventive and beautiful. It made me want to at least join in on some of the fun, since it seems like I have some scammer just a little on the hook right now. Its wonderful to know that there are people who are schooled veterans in this very sport. Hope I have some more fun things to report to you regarding my own little beginner's adventure. been reading up on the hints and tips ad ethical standards on this site, its helping me to learn what the boundaries ar. Thanks again for this site, and I can't wait to read more

thanks for the advice Vamp, I had considered this as a possible drawback, and I haven't heard from "her" ever since I called her out on the fact she told me she wants someone who can "bring out the little boy as well as the man" in her, so it may resolve itself anyways. But I don't have much actual personal information on there, though I do have a real picture or two of myself there. I might do as you suggest though, drop this one, and start a new profile with some fake pics and information, just to see what happens.

Welcome, and please post the scammer's details at scamwarners.com. These guys have many victims hooked all the time, and you may just save a few from him. And watchout! It's addicting. Smile

Sounds like you have them on a hook. Perhaps e-mail them from a fresh account pretending to be someone else. I'm sure they will be happy to hook your new character.
Obviously be wise to the fact these people are dangerous criminals and should be treated as such.
