Well I know you can buy 100% DEET here in the US not sure about Canada. Works freaking Awesome. Just dont get in on your lips or they will go numb.

A few years back my Brother in Law brought up some of that DEET and quickly remarked: 'What the Hells with this Sheet?' His fishing pole stuck to his hands....

We get fairly strong Muskol but I don't think it would be 100% DEET.

Anybody know where the machete was made?

What are you gonna do with that thing? cut their little nads off and stop em from procreating?

I was a heavy smoker for 50 years and that seemed to help a lot. Now I hide in a big screened in Gazebo on my deck.

My son had one of those Propane gas mosquito trap at his house in a heavy wooded area on the side of a mountain and I was surprised it worked as well as it did.

^^Yeah, I bought one of those thingies when I moved to Texas. Thought it would keep them away and put it near the fence where there's a tiny creek on the other side. FAIL. It attracted them from the creek, and they then proceeded to eat me for lunch. Confused

EDIT: Oh, and bastard insects? Where I grew up, little bitty ants were called "sugar ants" and were present only if you spilled something. They don't bite and are at best a nuisince. Here, little bitty ants are FIRE ANTS and don't just bite, but hold on and sting as well. I thought nothing of trodding the yard barefooted when I first moved in, and came back with feet that looked like balloons. Gah. Evil or Very Mad

EDIT AGAIN: I recognize that mark, just can't remember.

So far we haven't got much mosquito's here, thanks to the winter weather we still have in the Netherlands. I'm more worried to see polar bears appearing someday. I've heard they raid wheelie bins.

On to other news: Canada doesn't have a National Bird. Wait...What?

@PF - I'll have you know that there has never been an incident with one of my Machetes and Beer/Alcohol. Yup that's right I was sober the time I nearly cut my 'Flipping the National Bird' finger off. I had just finished sharpening it and was cleaning it off when I happened to mistake the sharp side for the the not so sharp bits. I immediately screamed out the first two words that came into my skull "C*ck! F*ck!" This caused me to stop all thoughts of a 911 call as I began laughing at my outburst....anyhow I made my way into the house and ran my finger under a cold tap until I couldn't take it anymore then wrapped it up in a dish cloth and went back outside since passing out on the lawn seemed better than smashing my head in the house and making a real mess.

When the Missus came home a few hours later I was somewhat inebriated so I refused to go to the hospital or to let her see my finger. The next morning when she saw the Carnage, I was whisked off to town for a crack Team of Janitors to cut most of the remaining digit off then give a big old oops and reattach it with their best rusty tools.

Yeah it healed pretty good although I don't have all the feeling I used to but the real high point was that I didn't have to do a lick of work at the Moose Camp that year.

The worst part of all was my Darling Sister or Nurse Nastiest as I have come to call her removed my stitches for me. C*ck! F*ck! She hurt me!

I had it a differnt way, one boxing day had the carving knife slip, across my finger, result had me going to hospital, to be stitched up.

Was seen by one nurse who then left, i then had the staff nurse come in to stitch me up, it hurt that much i did ask her if she would be sadistic to her husband, just shook her head and smiled.

Seems to only be sadistic to relations, the staff nurse was my second cousin, getting her own back. Embarassed
