Pink Floyd's management has confirmed Storm Thorgerson, has died aged 69, . He designed the cover showing a prism spreading a spectrum of colour for The Dark Side Of The Moon.

I liked a lot of the Hipgnosis work, seemed to sum up the 70s as did Roger Dean who designed a lot of Yes covers.

I always liked this one as a youngster but didn't acquire it until quite recently:

I have seen dozens of variations of that cover. There may be more versions of it than Mona Lisa or American Gothic. But unlike those two, the variations of the prism and color spectrum are interpretations, not parodies.

I have Finlay Cowan's book Drawing and Painting Fantasy Figures. This guy was the illustrator behind a lot of Storm's best work including this:
