I'm in a state of shock. I went out to lunch with a friend and when I got in the car to come back home I was bombarded by all the breaking news stories. It sounds horrific. Crying or Very sad

"When we crest Heartbreak Hill, and we're coming back towards Boston, we run the final six for our six fallen educators, including their lives, to protect our children."

There was a 26-second moment of silence for the victims before the race started.

Update 4:07 p.m.: Newtown families were reportedly seated in the VIP section right by where the explosions went off. There's no word whether they are among the 23 injured and two dead from the explosions.

Injured is up to 86, and two dead. Cell phone towers shut down in case there are more bombs.

Latest word is that the event at the JFK Library was an unrelated fire.

They are now saying the Library incident was not related.

While I am not an American citizen this hits close to home as the Boston 'area' was a second home to me for a few years. I remember many a Sox game, a few wild and crazy St. Patrick's days there, internships, and a lovely city full of warm memories and hope as I formed my young(er) life.

Thoughts and prayers out to the city, those injured, and those suffering from the loss of loved ones. Precatory prayers to those behind this tragedy as well: may the end of the road swiftly rise up to meet you in an equally cruel fate.

3 confirmed dead, 166 hurt, many seriously. At least two children.
Prayers and thoughts. My thoughts are with the responders, families and children.
