I noticed a post today saying:
"any body receive text messages from 316.712.4867 saying they are deaf and found their lost item? I have someone sending me text messages from this number saying they found my lost camera bag and they need my full name and address as listed on my ID with email to send it to me...seems like a scam to me"
A further comment goes on to explain that it is a scam.
I'm assuming the phone number has been shut off, what else can be done though?
I'd also like to say thank you as this site has saved my family an awful lot of heart ache and grief and has also given me a good giggle at times!  |

Weird.. Just as a lark, I called the number. It goes straight to voicemail with the message.. "Can you please help me find my dog?" No name, no instructions on who you called, no sign the person is deaf and must use text.
Using VOIP number so no caller ID info to RL is revealed. Called from another state entirely. Since it didn't ring before answering, it may be just a K7 type number.
Area code is Wichita Kansas.
I'll see if they text back, call back, or ignore me. |

Points to it being a phishing scam, they are after your personal details with the intent to steal them for their own use. |
