When I was across in the USA and we wanted to introduce our American friends to haggis, we found that tinned haggis was available in a Scottish store.
It was better than nothing, but a bit oily.
What's wrong with a bit of lung?

Actually there was a smuggling ring set up to smuggle Haggis into the states from Canada

Think this topic ricochets back to the 'Offal' thread last year...nothing wrong with eating Haggis with tatties and neeps (with a good dram or two of decent Malt of course) for one night, once a year.

Don't think anybody on record has died from scoffing the Haggis alone.

I am sure PF is arranging the delivery of his imported Canadian Haggis as we speak.

Lovely stuff. Sausages, black pud, fried spuds, eggs, grilled tomato, few slices fried bread, onions, helps keep you going for a while in the damp outdoors that is Ireland in Summer.

/\ Clonakilty do white pudding too, and very nice it was too! We went there once to a Norton Owners Club Rally, and camped on the rugby field. At dawn I went for a wee, and saw the bar staff waiting for their taxi home!

Years later I wore the rally t-shirt in a pub, and some drunken bloke came up ranting about how his wife had left him for some bloke in Clonakilty, he didn't like being reminded about it. Rolling Eyes

Black pudding, with scrambled eggs on brown toast and a little ground pepper. And a big mug of tea.

When I visit the homestead in Ireland I bring back black and white pudding from a butcher just outside of Portlaoise.

Is it not Robbie Burns Day? If it isn't I brought out my Cask Strength Brora for nothing. Okay maybe that is a wee bit harsh as it is rather warming.

Distilled in 1972, purchased in 1996 and a few drams left for poor Oscar. Oddly enough I looked around and found a canned Haggis that I would have bought on the same trip. You think it's still good?

I'm informed that Stornoway black pudding is supposed to be the best but my son likes the butchers idea of a bit black pudding in a slice of lorne sausage.

So I found my canned Haggis from way back when and gave it a little shake. This produced a clanking noise so I pried open the tin and found another tin inside ( kinda like those Ukranian nesting dolls I suppose).

Glenfarclas Haggis with Glenfarclas Malt Whisky: BEST BEFORE END AUG98.

It cost me £3.45 too....

Don't worry, get it down you, after a few snorters of decent Malt (eg Bladnoch) with a few tatties and neeps with it then you can be the Porcelain Piper in the morning Smile
