There is a related article in the article of the school shooting scam but it does not belong in the same post as that one at all. this is about an attack on your computer from various porn sites and possibly others.

According to the article there are 16 different gangs involved but it is spreading.

At the bottom they say Nigerian 411 scams are still the most prevalent. (411 is their posting error not mine)\

i saw a statistic that less than 20% of the ransomware infections are repaired after paying the ransom. See a computer professional instead. Your chances of file recovery are slim.

As a first line of defense, bakup your computer regularly. As a second line, run something more secure than Windows. If you don't have a My Documents on C:, most infections don't work. If you don't run Windows, the software won't run.

Research dual booting with Linux of some variation. Ubuntu and Linux Mint are newbie friendly.
