I have retreated to the stone age. No electricity or heat since Christmas (and no phone service). Hence, no internet access. (I am sending this from another location).
We had a tremendous ice storm, followed by about a foot of snow, on Christmas day, and there are about 250,000 "customers" without power.
I have been told that I might have utilities back on either Tuesday or Wednesday (or maybe later).

That sucks, i hope you get utilities back soon, it's not pleasant having no heating in the middle of winter. One advantage though, everything in the fridge will not spoil. Just keep the door open. |

You must be from UK. I've heard stories that if there's a few inches of snow the whole country stops (no offence meant).
Personally, I just worked from 5am to 2pm - plowing snow - manually. My co-worker started bitching "stop working so damn fast, they're gonna give us more work!!".
Anyway, I'm waiting for the summer and the flies, it's too darn cold here up north. |

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes. I once had my power go out during an ice storm. That was the most miserable twelve hours of my life. I hope your at least somewhere warm. |

Our neighborhood was hit by a tornado on Christmas even in 2002, leaving us with no utilities for three weeks. Cooking Christmas dinner for 15 people with no utilities - oh and a tree stuck through your roof - makes for an interesting holiday. That's when I learned to cook turkey on the grill. Similar storm system tore across the country this year. My heart goes out to those affected by it. |

I lost a number of branches from trees. Some neighbors lost whole trees. Plus I lost the contents of my freezer. |
