Present of the Holiday Season that is! Sadly I have no idea what it is.

I come home and this pretty little package is on my bar table:

The contents are a bit more baffling:

Any ideas? Its got that new car smell and weighs about a half pound...

What see in that picture looks just like the one that goes at the top of the lubricator pole. Is this a fairly hard rubber object?

Honourable mention for the Beer towel but sadly that is not the correct answer. I do know what it is now since I bumped into another recipient of the Sausage King's generosity.

It took a bloody Campbell ( the murderous ones) to figure it out and it is something that will come of great use this winter. I will add hints here and there until Monday when I post its use thought the Magic of Digital Photography.

For those keeping track at home we have:

BearSeason with one point for using a Yuletide metaphor.

nextvictim with two points for due diligence and asking the right question. Yes it is a hard rubber object. You are on the wrong track with the lubricator pole attachment however.

Fowan Nyne leading the pack with three points for giving an Oscarish type reply.

So far the closest use suggested for this is for clearing snow by lakeside77. That has to be worth three point in itself but in all reality it can be used year round. Cryptic huh?

BadKarma gets one point for bringing in the obligatory Sexual reference and another coming up with a possible use. The way this unit twists and locks together, however, could lead to some 'uncomfortable' moments. On the other hand it is made to have a certain cushioning effect.

Toomuchfun unfortunately picked up on the Red Herring and gets no points for the guess. Yeah you are tied with me here as I was hoping it was actually sausages before opening the bag. Once I saw the contents, I was rather disappointed and then perplexed.

Hmm, looking at it some more, it looks metal and rubber, and with that cut down the length of it I would guess some sort of compression fitting to a bigger gift they are teasing you with Laughing

it looks like it should go around something. You twist it to align the slot with a bar or rope, then release to so that it retains itself there.

What it is for it beyond me. A soft stop for a pulley? Too heavily made for a climbing accessory. I'm stumped.

So we now know what it is but what we don't know where it was purchased or what one might actually call it. This is actually rather important all of a sudden as I lost one of the parts yesterday.

My friend aka Sausage King visits me one or two days a year but always wants to know the status of his gifts. Once he gave me a hideous ice bucket for my Bar as it was 'Me'. I have to keep this piece of crap on display since he might show up. In other words I now have to buy another one of these things so that he will be happy.

It seems to be called a winch cable saver or a winch cable saver cushion.Lots of places to buy it online.And having once lost a car off of a rollback by sucking the hook into the winch,it looks like a damned useful item. Laughing
