Hi guys,

I'd like to give a big thankyou to you all, without this forum... I may just have succumb to one of these idiots in selling one of my vehicles.

I looked up a name when it started sounding fishey and all of a sudden, 419eater.com came up... Wow there's so many of these guys.

Now oddly enough, after reading all your baiting thingos, i'm tempted to try one of my own but I have no idea how to go about it.

I've received approximately 40 emails in 3 weeks from various names from emails residing from gmail and yahoo.

To you baiters, this would almost be a dream... 40 schmucks in 3 weeks, to waste their time but to me, I just want to sell my damn car.

So... While I keep getting these emails, I thought I would ask how I begin baiting with this one below.

Hi Do you still have your item for sale?How much is your last asking price???

Now basically, these 40 emails all start out like this - Hi, is your item still for sale blah blah.

Now when I say yes - The same response always comes back "Hi, i'd like to buy your item, blah blah blah for price you stated etc etc i'm overseas and thus cant look at your item however im buying it as a gift yardy yardy yah... you get the gist.

And it's that scam where they make you pay for the "pickup agent"

So... What do I do?

Welcome to Eater!

First, make up a new identity, with a new email address, located at an address that doesn't exist.

Second, answer the ad, saying that you have a 2010 Pontiac Edsel, or any other nonexistent model that the lad won't recognize as nonexistent.

You'll want to get a mentor; the main forum page has a link to the mentor system, and Hints and Tips says how many are available. Also, if you're going to get mail from the lad, you may want to look into the dropbox.

If you get an ad inquiring about the item, you may try to sell an Acer Negundo laptop instead of an Edsel.

Please post the scripts here and on Scamwarners. They'll then be available for other baiters, and other people trying to sell cars will know they're scams.
