Well if we are talking the most manly food surely the Icelandics have it won hands down with Hákarl, ill attempt most things but when i visted iceland i drew the line with that, the chicken in a can seems a bit tame in comparison.

Then surströmming should be right down the manly alley. If ever visit Sweden, please do try it. It is fermented herring, sounds delicious doesn't it.

Hákarl is fermented shark. I've tasted it (damn my Icelandic genes) and it's horrible. puke

As for surströmning, I actually heard that it tastes a helluva lot better than it smells, and another plus is, that it's washed down with vodka or akvavit. Very Happy

I will point out that any food one has to anesthetize one's self with before eating isn't probably anything that should normally be eaten.

Ah, yes. Lutefisk. It's important to me to emphasize, that is is purely a Swedish-Norwegian phenomenon. We sane Scandinavians wouldn't eat that stuff to save our lives.

Go on YouTube and look up Wreckless Eating's channel. There is a surstrommung episode there with many a lost lunch. It is awful stuff by all accounts. In fact a YouTube search for surstrommung will give very consistent results; alarm, fear, and the impression seconds after opening the bulging can that the video's creator has got themselves in way too deep this time. This is followed by attempts to eat it, and inevitable vomiting. One of those "why would you?" foods.

Not particularly wanting to watch something quite so revolting, I opted instead to read about it on Wikipedia. This line was enough to reinforce my lack of interest in watching the Youtube clips:

^^^ After extensive and exhausting research (30 seconds!) I must conclude "chicken" is not in Chuck Norris's vocabulary. Thus proving beyond a shadow of a doubt chicken is a sissy meat. Cool

@ Bast's Child - just because you could not find it, does not mean it doesn't exist. Om...

iMike - I've enjoyed pheasant in the past. Of course I don't eat meat now, so whether that makes it sissy by association I'm not sure. Also, how did you obtain said pheasant? Did you simply procure it at your local butchers/supermarket/pub, or did you shoot it yourself, at night, unaided, while avoiding the attentions of an irate gamekeeper?
